"I hired CBW electric to replace my electrical panel and upgrade my service to a 200amp service, mainly bc I have a wood shop and. I just had a new central a/c system installed which required a new panel. Charles did an excellent job for me. I had 1 little issue but that turned out to be my appliances issue and NOT the new electrical equipment. When I did call he was very quick about solving it for me. I will definitely will be hiring CBW again and I referred him to 2 of my neighbors in need of electrical help."

"They're aren't enough stars to symbolize how good Brown Brothers work really is. Tom was professional, responsive, and very attentive to detail from the first time we talked. His bid came in well under everyone else's, allowing us to get multiple projects done at once. Tom replaced and upgraded our old electrical panel, redid some old wiring, and installed some new outlets and switches in the home we just purchased in Scappoose. He also did it in less time than quoted. When completed, my panel looks like a piece of art....I wish i could post before/after pics. I can't wait to work with Tom when we install the hot tub!"

"Murphy Family Electric is an awesome company with very competent technicians and reasonable rates. They make the whole process pretty straightforward. I had used them to get my Tesla charger in 2018 (Cost: $799 including material). I was so impressed with their work that when I had a complex electrical job - installing a new 120v outlet requiring a new wire from the circuit breaker - I did not get any quotes but just booked them. That job was done very professionally as well (Cost: $949). Fast forward to Mar 2025, my tesla charger had problems with over heating and intermittent power loss. I called Murphy Family Electric and they sent a technician the same day who came and adjusted/cleaned the connections and spent 30 mins fixing the problem. And to my surprise the company did not even charge me anything for this. So on top of everything else you can add absolutely fantastic customer service to their list of attributes."

"Lucky for us Brandon was the first to respond. Turned out we needed a completely new electrical panel for our 1950's house to allow us to install a new range. He was informative, knowledgeable and spelled out options and time frame. Plus encouraged us to get bids (what company voluntarily does that?). It was a no brainer. On time, great communication, more than fair pricing, and complete confidence in the excellent work done. This company is the real deal. You can't do better."

"We had Roman and crew put in the wiring for a hot tub. They were punctual, easy to talk with, answered all of our questions, did great work, and did it all in a timely manner. Their prices were competitive and I would use them for any other electrical needs."

"Excellent. John set to work right away. He worked very fast and was very knowledgeable. He determined a baseboard heater needed replacement and gave options to choose. He had a very complex task with a porch light the had no power only to find the circuit was dead and found a light fixture that was miswired and had burned the insulation off the wire. He repaired it . finding the problem required getting into the attic crawl space to trace where the wires went. I was grateful he found and fixed it as it was dangerous."

"I recently hired Sylvania Electric for an electrical project that included changing out my electric panel, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. They were professional, efficient, and completed the job with great attention to detail. The crew showed up on time, explained the process clearly, and made sure everything was done safely and up to code. The new panel looks great and gives me peace of mind knowing the work was done right. I would definitely recommend Sylvania Electric to anyone looking for quality electrical work."

"Mike did a fantastic job upgrading my electrical panel to Leviton Smart Load Center which also is a fantastic product but not many people know how to make it work. I am glad HomeAdvisor matched my project with Mike of Wilson River Electric."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in North Plains, OR

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
