"My wife and I wanted new hard woods in our house but had very specific requirements that we could not typically find locally.  My wife wanted a dark floor while I wanted extreme durability in a natural hard wood.  We did our homework and decided that Brazilian Walnut (Ipe) most closely matched what we wanted.  <br /> After looking locally for something that fit the bill, the flooring we found was either over $12 sq/ft (too expensive) or not dark enough.  I started searching on-line and ran across Brazilian Direct.  Their prices seemed reasonable (a bit over $6 sq/ft for what we wanted) and they even had a tinted (dark) version of the floor we liked. <br /> After several weeks of questions and further research, we decided to place an order.  We we worked with a representative named Sannon who helped us every step of the way.  She sent us samples, instructions, guides - everything to make us more comfortable about our eventual order.  Our order came right on schedule and the wood was really beautiful.  After several weeks of the required acclimation we had a local installer put the floor down.  They did an excellent job and we really love our floor.  There was very little waste and in fact we had at least 3 boxes left over. <br /> I highly recommend Brazilian Direct.  We are considering using them again for a deck project we'd like to do in the future. <br />"

"Overall it took a little longer than I had anticipated but I realized later it was my unrealistic expectations. They had to demo the entire bathroom, reroute plumbing and electrical, install flooring, sheetrock, trim/baseboards, paint, etc. I opted to do the painting myself tho to save some money. Originally I was working with a friend who was going to play general contractor for this project since he'd done his bath and his sisters with no issues. However, a family emergency came up and he had to bow out which I understood. However, that left me (who knows nothing about home remodeling and general contracting) holding the bag. By this time I had arranged a plumber (friend of a friend type) who because of scheduling issues I eventually had to replace last minute. I definitely needed help. Especially since this is the ONLY bathroom in the house. I called Yankee. I knew a couple of their carpenters, who did excellent work, and decided to hand over the job. Yes, I was concerned I was going to pay an enormous amount more for this job but after talking to Chris D he reassured me that it wouldn't be THAT much more and totally worth it to have someone else deal with the headaches of arranging all the contractors involved to get this job done in a timely manner AND done to code. He did not lie. I needed it done right. He hire a plumber (Premier Mechanical) they'd used often who came right over to look at the job and was able to start the next day. <br /> This house had been neglected and jury-rigged for MANY years. Yankee did a great job. Other issues popped up during this project but it had nothing to do with them but they willingly without hesitation took care of the problems. They were totally professional and I would definitely hire them again. The approximate cost listed above includes plumber, electrician, and Yankee. <br />"
