" A Plus Tile Marble Stone and their Project Leader Ted, are solid professionals! For a reasonable price, they provided a total white glove service from beginning to end of my kitchen remodel project. Ted is very particular about measurements, stone quality, and matching patterns in the stone, with an eye for detail and aesthetic. His suggestions for the project approach showed a deep level of experience, understanding and care. His team worked quickly and he delivered on time with high quality results. I highly recommend A Plus Tile Marble Stone. "

"I am struggling to reconcile the 5.0 star reviews with the work Richard and his team have obviously performed for many satisfied customers against my experience with Richard. Afterall, it was based on these reviews for having chosen him to perform the work on our home. Our experience was poor - constantly reminding Richard the scope of work and 2 surprises for cost not included in the quote. Quality was poor. Floor leveled with thinset instead of underlayment. Whole house had to be reworked for poor grout lines. Several tiles replaced for too high / low. New, finished painted baseboard installed with nail holes caulked instead of spackled. Pocket door nailed to baseboard. Sloppy cleanup. I cannot recommend Richard Kellogg to anyone on the Central Coast and certainly not to my neighbors in good standing. Even with the outstanding items that needed to be corrected for poor workmanship, Richard was paid in full to leave my premises and keep my sanity barely intact. "

"Courteous, professional and definite craftsman. If you want your kitchen countertops prepped and installed correctly you should contact J.T. Marble & Granite Designs. I have heard from friends that contractors left them in the lurch for months while sorting things out and waiting for other jobs to be completed. This was definitely not the case. Our entire job from the first phone call to finish was completed in less than three weeks (including our week long trip out of town) by this awesome team. These guys are probably not the cheapest, and if that is your priority please take into consideration the following. Change orders were handled without any drama and two punch list items (microwave installation and cabinet/drawer pulls) were both completed without additional cost. If you desire high quality work, done in a timely manner to your satisfaction contact J.T. Marble & Granite Designs, Inc."

"Jamie and his crew installed large scale (24"x48") porcelain tile in two bathrooms (walls and floors) and on a large dining / kitchen / hall floor. The results are absolutely perfect. Our floors were far from level, so the install was not easy and required a large amount of leveling cement. Everyone showed up every day at 7 AM, at times we had two crews working to get our project finished on time. You can see that they did not cut any corners and did whatever it took to do things right. FAQs for stone slab countertops installation (granite, marble, quartz, etc) projects in Northridge, CA

Soapstone countertops are durable, environmentally friendly, easy to maintain, non-porous, heat-resistant, and naturally antibacterial. They resist stains and cracks, making them a practical and long-lasting choice. However, soapstone has limited color options and can have visible seams in larger installations. It may also scratch or chip if not handled carefully and tends to have a higher initial cost than other materials. Overall, if you're looking for a functional and aesthetically pleasing countertop, soapstone is a solid choice despite these minor drawbacks.

Soapstone countertops typically come in light to dark gray, often with blue or green undertones. One of the unique features of soapstone is that it deepens in color over time, developing a rich patina that adds to its charm. Each slab is unique, with natural streaks and veining that become more pronounced as the countertop ages, giving your kitchen or bathroom a dynamic and evolving look.

With proper care, soapstone countertops can last 50 years or more. Regular cleaning with mild detergents and occasional applications of mineral oil to enhance the natural patina will keep your countertops looking beautiful. Thanks to its durable nature, soapstone stands up well for daily use, making it a wise long-term investment for your home.

Sealing isn't necessary for soapstone countertops. Soapstone is naturally non-porous and antibacterial, resists stains, and doesn't harbor bacteria. While you don't need to seal it, applying mineral oil occasionally can enhance its natural beauty and help develop a rich patina over time. This simple maintenance keeps your countertop looking its best for years to come.
