"We had a fairly complicated driveway to pave and Roads Paving did an outstanding job from beginning to end, starting with the estimator that came out to appraise the work and who guided us through the process, including, when we go the initial price and found we could afford more than the minimum amount of work. Install crew was highly skilled, professional, and customer oriented from top to bottom. Foremen and equipment operators adapted to the job, communicated, and gave us an even better product than we anticipated. We had a big job with difficult access and it was knocked out in one day; cleanup was excellent and price competitive."

"Mark came out to measure and give the original estimate; he spent a lot of time helping me decide what type of curb was best in which area and helping me break the yard into "this year" and "next year" to make the cost more manageable and take care of the most visible areas first. We'll be calling them again as soon as my husband gets his bonus for the year!"

"I am very pleased with the outcome of the job NYS Enterprises did putting in a new asphalt approach to my driveway. (Thrilled, actually!) James, the project manager, was terrific. He kept me informed each step of the way and consulted with me without hesitation when questions came up. The crew was professional, knowledgeable and knocked out the job in an afternoon. The scheduling and billing processes went smoothly and were handled well. I would definitely hire them again and can confidently recommend their work."

"We visited their establishment and were shown samples of their work, as well as a selection of stones that could be used in our application. The Project Manager, Darin, was extremely helpful and courteous to us. <br /> We chose two pieces of granite, and quickly received a quote for the job via email. We were pleased with the price and decided to do business with Skyline. We scheduled dates for their staff to template the counters and for installation. Both the templating and installation of the granite were done as per the scheduled dates. The installation crew was friendly, courteous, and competent. They were respectful of our property and did no damage to walls, etc. The finish work is superb. They installed the sinks and back splashes and caulked them with very clean lines in matching colored caulk. <br /> We couldn't be happier with the work they did. We visited several companies before Skyline, and were not as impressed by the level of sales cooperation or price. <br /> We are considering another counter replacement, and will use Skyline again. <br />"

"It is a pleasure to write a positive review for Harms paving. I took the unitive to start the process of paving our neighborhoods private drive. It entailed numerous notifications to our neighbors and several bids for 2 paving methods for comparison. Of the 5 businesses solicited Harm’s paving was the most proactive with communications and specifications. And also the most competitive with pricing. Once we had a unanimous decision from 10 neighbors Harms set a start date. Their crews were on time, road prep work performed, private drives and ½ of primary road completed day 1 and entire project completed day 2. There was close to70.000 square feet of surface to be prepped and paved. The Harm’s crew did this in 2 days. WOW! The project management abilities and team work of their staff were the strong contributors to their extraordinary performance and made the entire project go smoothly. We are very satisfied with the product and results and highly recommend them for your project. Please see images. Best Regards to Harm’s Paving, Brian"

"Sione's Concrete and Pavers were recommended to us by our General contractor doing a remodel of our home.  We were undecided whether to do concrete or pavers for our driveway, which was in need of replacement.  We got bids from 3 companies including Sione's, which turned out to be the most competitive. Beyond the price we found Sione to be friendly, professional and very helpful during the entire project.  He met with us one day to go over things in order to provide the estimate.  He listened to our concerns and ideas and offered a few of his own.  He gave us a quote for concrete and one for pavers.    Sione recommended we go see his work at some of the jobs his company had completed.  We met with him several times before the work began to go over the details.  He was patient with us and never forced us one way or the other into making a particular decision.  He gave us the pros and cons of each and told us where we could go to select materials and a layout for the paver system.  We decided to go with the pavers even though the cost was more. <br /> We scheduled a start date several weeks out and on the scheduled  morning, on time, his team arrived to begin demolition of the old concrete driveway, which took several days as it was quite a large job.  The team was professional and had good safety practices.  As they went along, they explained to me each step and kept me posted on progress.  They took out the concrete driveway, removed several inches of dirt and graded the driveway in preparation for the new materials.  During demolition, it was discovered there were 12-16 concrete piers, each about 42" deep with re-bar, buried under the old walkway.  These had to either be removed or jack-hammered down to a smaller size since so much dirt surrounding them was being taken out.  There was no extra charge for this work.   <br /> When demolition was completed it came time to start the pavers.  Sione came to the house and went over the design of what we wanted and laid it out, outlining it on the ground with spray paint.  Crushed gravel, then sand was delivered, graded and compacted.  The pavers arrived on pallets from the distributor and were placed at the end of the driveway.  We were excited to see the work progress and the stones being placed.  The team that installed the pavers were great.  Each man knew his job and they worked together, cutting and putting each stone in place.  When we discovered that the front porch step was too high, "hey, no problem", they took it out and made a two step porch for easier entry. The crew asked if they could work on Saturdays and even wanted to work Thanksgiving morning to complete the job.  It did take a few more days than anticipated because of rain, but it was worth it.  Neighbors walk by, and unsolicited, tell us how marvelous the driveway now looks.   <br /> I would HIGHLY recommend Sione's Concrete Construction for your driveway, walkway, backyard or any other hard landscaping project in your future. <br />"

"Excellent work, I am extremely happy the job. The extension increased my usable parking area and allows me to park three vehicles in my drive now. The new drain that they installed is far superior to the original drain."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Oak Harbor, WA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
