"Affordable pricing, quick response, no gimmicks, excellent work. We hired Jeff to fix our kitchen sink pipes, he was able to provide us a reasonable quote over the phone from photos I sent him. He gave us an estimated schedule to come out and do the work, and real-time text messages to update us. He's willing to work late to complete the job. He cleaned up the area very well. Has a great personality. And his expertise shows from the straightforward speedy execution of clearing the clog, and reconfiguring the piping. I was amazed at the craftsmanship, and in less than an hour, our clogged pipes had been cleared and we can finally use it like it should be. Highly recommend Jeff for his awesome skills and integrity, he did not charge us 1 cent extra from his quote. And he gave us clear instructions on how to keep the drain clean in the future. Jeff is #1 for plumbing services in our books."

"I came home from work to find our 40-gallon water heater was not working (it was working that morning). The pilot was out and I could not get it re-lit (I do know how to light a pilot) After checking a number of companies on Angie's List, I contacted DB's Plumbing and Drain. Although it was almost 6pm, a very nice person answered the phone and I explained my dilemma. I was told they could send someone that night but would have to charge an after-hours rate. I was reasonably certain what was wrong would not be a simple fix like re-lighting a pilot so scheduled a visit for the following morning between 10 am and 12 noon. Michael D arrived shortly after 10 am. He was very courteous, polite and professional. Before entering my home, he donned a pair of shoe covers which was kept on as long as he was in the house. He diagnosed the problem as being a failed main burner system. As the water heater was 14-years-old, I weighed the cost of replacing just the main burner system on such an old unit against replacing the unit itself. I opted for the water heater replacement. Michael setup the old unit to drain while he went to retrieve the new one from their warehouse which took him about 45 minutes. Upon his return, he removed the old unit and cleaned up the area. He then cut back the existing copper lines to eliminate the numerous soldered couplings from the previous homeowner's repairs. He installed new copper pipes including a new quarter turn shut-off valve. A catch pan was placed and the water heater setup in it. Up reconnecting the gas line, he installed a sediment trap or drip leg (it did not have one previously) which catches sediment sometimes present in natural gas. After bringing the system online, Michael checked the gas line connections for leaks using a detection monitor. The installation was clean and neat and it is obvious Michael is conscientious about his work. Always interested in how things in my home work, Michael was very gracious in answering my questions regarding the installation. I am very happy with the install.and would like to thank Michael for his professionalism and the education."

"We needed to have our line snaked to clear a blockage that was causing a back up into the bathtub. They were very professional and efficient but I did think that $850 was higher than we could have paid but we needed the work done right away. Looking at other estimates, I think we paid a pretty high price. I thought they did a good job."

"I donâ t know where to start. Andy Clark and Bruce Crane along with four other guys came to my home for a septic pipe that broke underground. Those guys went above and beyond. I donâ t believe any other guys or company would have did this job for the price they gave us. Thank you so much for your professionalism and knowledge. It had to be over one hundred years of experience in the ground working in my backyard. They fixed a major backup messy nasty issue and I just canâ t thank them enough. For ALL my plumbing needs John C Flood is the best. Thanks fellas!"

"This was real plumbing work, new drains, vents, and supplies, not drain clearing or leaky faucets. I'm an Architect so I know what to ask for but these guys did good work, listened carefully to what I wanted done and how I wanted it done, and even my wife was impressed with the way they protected our carpeting, cleaned up after their work, etc. Highly recommend."

"Very well. The pipe had a pinhole leak in a copper elbow joint and required cutting the pipe, in a confined space, to drain standing water. G**** Miranda did a remarkable job repairing the pipe and an adjacent supply pipe I elected to have repaired in case its joint might leak. Workmanship was exceptional, potential mess and additional Sheetrock damage was minimized, G**** Miranda worked tirelessly for 3 hours and produced a satisfactory repair."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Oakton, VA

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
