"I was told I was getting an appliance A/C tech, who knew how to service Air Conditioners. The Technician arrived...had no idea what to do...Had to search the repair procedure on the internet !! The tech informed me, that he doesn't work on these units or know anything about them. Nothing was correctly serviced or fixed. The problem returned in 2 hours, and I was charged almost $300 for nothing. For $300 dollars, nothing got solved. Terrible service, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for no result."

"The job went according to plan and looks amazing. I met with LR Higgins Inc. late winter and we discussed the job I needed done. With the pandemic, the windows and doors would take a while to be delivered especially the custom sliding doors for the breezeway. Eric kept me in the loop the entire time. He updated me on a regular basis to let me know when he thought the product would be delivered and a start date. His crew was informative and very clean. All debris was picked up and swept up. I have used LR Higgins in the past and I keep gong back to them. They do a FANTASTIC job!"

"What was supposed to be a typical furnace maintenance ended up being a complete and catastrophic nightmare. We had them come and service our furnace. They ended up over pressuring our oil line and broke the line, creating our basement to be flooded by heating oil. We called them back once we realized what had happened and the owner came out, verbally claimed responsibility. He said he would call EPA to report the leak (he legally had to do this within 2 hours of the spill) . He ended up not doing it until the next morning!!! Meanwhile we called the fire department and had to have ourselves and our 4 young kids sleep in a tent that night. EPA spent well over 2 weeks mitigating the spill and tearing out rugs, drywall and even studs. Now meuller is claiming no responsibility after confirming that it was their fault on multiple occasions. I understand mistakes happen, but at least do the right thing and own it. Now it’s up to the insurance companies and what should have been an easy fix is now a long drawn out issue and our basement is still not back together. Please take your business elsewhere."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Ogunquit, ME

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
