"It was perfect! They had to replace butcher block countertops that had been incorrectly installed by another company. They came out and gave an estimate and had samples of wood to choose from and gave options for the installation on the edges, etc. They show up when they are scheduled to for all appointments and they explain what they are going to do and how to care for the counters after installation. Exceptional people to work with!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!"

"We had a great experience with Cozy Kitchens (CK). Don't cross them off your list because of the cost of our kitchen. I believe many if not most kitchen remodels done by Cozy Kitchens cost less than ours. We live year-round in our Outer Banks home and felt a splurge to get exactly what we wanted, including considerably more kitchen storage space than is needed in most vacation/rental homes here, was worthwhile. CK can and does work within a lower budget than we chose to--higher too in some larger homes than ours, I'm sure.
CK does contemporary, traditional, in between, whatever you want. John, Dave, Angela, and Matt gave us expert design help and advice. Nate coordinated the project and minimized the project time (about two weeks total time between demolition of the old kitchen to completion of the new) with a detailed installation schedule, and made sure CK started and finished on time. Dustin and crew did a first-rate, professional installation. We provided some appliances and a sink and faucet, and they installed them although they would have ordered these as well if we wanted. Most other materials CK ordered in or built, delivered, and installed. We used a plumber and electrician CK suggested who did excellent work at a fair additional cost of under $1000 (some water and electric had to be moved). CK would have allowed us to subcontract out with other people including tile installers we wanted, but we found two important advantages of using the people CK suggested was that the plumber and electrician they suggested have a good working relationship and experience with local building inspectors, and they will stay on track in a tight schedule.
We felt the cost was very fair, commensurate with the quality of materials and installation. The one element that was higher than we expected was the tile work, easily double per square foot what we've paid for several comparable tile projects in recent years. Part of the reason for this is that CK uses an expensive Schluter underlayment for the floor tile. Matt says the kitchen floor holds up much better that way, and although we haven't had a problem with floor tile installed over Durock cement board, he may be right. The tile installation quality was outstanding, so we did not ding CK here for Cost, and besides, the tile work was a relatively small portion of the budget. The tile looks fantastic. CK's cost for appliances, by the way, is very competitive with what you will find elsewhere including the web--we've seen other remodeling contractors try to mark appliances they order for you way up--CK did not do this with our range hood.
There were a few very minor glitches. It would be unrealistic to expect a project with the scope and impact of a total kitchen remodel to be done without anything needing extra attention. The key is: do they make any problem immediately right without any flak?, and CK installers and subcontractors absolutely did that.
We are very grateful for their skill and flexibility in planning and execution. We couldn't be happier with the process and how it all turned out. Our new kitchen looks great and does exactly what we need. Cozy Kitchens is very highly recommended especially if you need expert design help, project leadership, and a top-quality installation."

"They did a great job on our two homes. They power washed and painted a 2500 sq ft home and stained a 550 sq ft cabin, along with painting the foundation. We received a prompt quote, fair price and great service. Jimmy and Eric are efficient, talented and detail oriented. We are grateful and would recommend the company."

"The first problem I had after signing the contract is you are required to pay $1,000.00 that day. IF you don't sign/pay & you decide later to have the service done ... you will be charged a fee for someone else to come out & re measure. Another guy did come out the next day (to re measure), but he really came to collect an additional 7k, The first day the installers arrive on site they request another 8k. At this point I've paid 16K & have nothing to show for it ... the work has not even begun. Evidently they use your money to order the necessary supplies or insure they have your money so you will not change your mind. All of this was spelled out in the contract ...which I should have read & more carefully. I did try to cancel the contract but it was after the 3 day window & I was told if I cancelled I would have to pay 10 - 50 percent of the job (for nothing)! Bryton's claims they can "do it all", but they are not licensed to or don't have in their employ someone to handle all of your needs (ex. electricians, painters, etc.). They will however contract the work out on your behalf (for an additional fee that is above & beyond the price the contractor charges them). I also did not like the fact that the contract was not itemized as to what each thing was costing me. Just a lump sum total. I was disappointed at the quality of the items I received. For the amount I paid I should have received top of the line products. Had to settle for vinyl instead of porcelain tile, chrome fixtures instead of brushed nickel, "hard service" aka plastic vanity top instead of quartz or granite, the faucets are so short you can't even get your hands under them for washing, the sinks are small (looks like they belong in a play house. My cabinets they hauled out of here were a better grade than my new "upgraded cabinets"! The cabinets & drawers did not even come with handles, I had to buy them & they were kind enough to put them on (which splintered the doors when they drilled the holes. I had to hire someone to put in my lighting, exhaust fan/light, the glass for the shower & for painting. Bryton's finished up today, but I'm on week 3 & still can't use the bathroom because I'm waiting on the glass for the shower & still trying to locate a painter. My intent was to have a shower stall w/o a door which the Bryton Rep told me would work. Well it seems 2 weeks into the project .. the glass guy says that will not work & you will have splash out. Now I've got to add the extra expense of a shower door. I had no way of knowing what this project was going to cost up front because of having to contract out (which Bryton's made seem it was so easy ... just go to Lowes or Home Depot, buy your items & they will install for you ... it was not that easy & very time consuming). Needless to say I would not use Bryton's again nor would I recommend them to a friend. They have too many layers of people they are paying. I spoke to 9 different people during my project, seems everyone has a separate duty. Also they asked if I wanted a permit for inspection, originally I said no that I didn't think it was necessary .. but the more I dealt with them "I didn't have a warm fuzzy" so I told them I did want the plumbing inspector to come out, to me that really shouldn't have even been asked, that should be part of their process & a requirement. I guess it's another way for them to save money.
"

"We had good cabinets but the fronts were not our style,so charlie suggested we just order new doors. Charlie lacquered the new doors and all the existing bases. We went 2 tone with the cabinets, espresso bases and white uppers. Charlie and his Dad discussed countertops with us and we decided to go with quartz, and they look fantastic. Add a great glass brick backsplash in aqua ,some travertine floors in 24x12 tiles, a stainless steel farm sink, and a fresh coat of paint, and the masterpiece was complete.
Big thanks to Charlie and his Pop Charles for the hard work, and thanks for cleaning up enough for my wife and I to continue to live in relative comfort during this remodel!
"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Marion, NC

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
