"We hired Ben to manage the project and do the landscaping for our new house with no lawn, deck, patio, or irrigation. Ben hired good contractors for the deck, patio, and irrigation and managed the whole thing including the timing, hiring, and overall coordination for the whole project. The landscape design Ben and his team put together for our yard was beautiful and unique, and captured everything we imagined for our yard, and more. Ben was working on our project when we had a bad wind storm that took out a tree in our yard. Ben helped clean up after the storm, including helping clean off the roof of our neighbor's shed that the tree came to rest on. Since the project was completed Ben has continued to reach out with advice for lawn care and responds to questions we have. During the entire process we felt comfortable trusting Ben to get the job done and get it done right. We would absolutely hire Ben for a similar project again."

"I had brush and several trees to remove on a Jackson, MI property owned by my brother in law to prep it for sale. I contacted Lake State Landscaping and they set up a date/time to meet and go over the property site to determine what I wanted done. "We live in a heavily wooded area and have used Preservation before.  Emerald Ash Borer killed 15 very tall ash trees; my husband took down many himself, but we had 5 that were potentially dangerous to either our home or our neighbors.  Tom called Preservation and Jeff called back and came out promptly to review the situation.  Three of the trees were definitely precarious and 2 of them could not be reached by the truck.
On Wednesday, the crew came out promptly at 9:00 a.m. and went to work.  They removed the trees closest to our home using the truck.  They dropped the tops and cleaned up the debris to a site that my Husband designated.  Through the day they proceeded to remove the 3 that were least dangerous, then they worked on the 2 that were the most problematic.
The tree to the north was leaning and caught up in another tree.  The crew climbed the tree and removed the top and then the larger limbs.  The crew reviewed their processes and determined the best way to proceed. They tied the tree to another tree, then he got down and was able to move the truck close to a limb that was caught in another tree.  When he cut the limb, it released the main portion of the tree and the whole tree came down.  Because he had tied it to another, they were able to control the direction of the fall.
From there they went to the north side with an even larger tree.  They followed the same procedure as above and were able to take that tree down safely as well.
Since then, the wind from Hurricane Sandy has been impacting Michigan; wind gusts today of 35 mph.  The possibility of those trees coming down on their own was high.
So, once again, Preservation was called, responded quickly, came out and safely removed the trees.  They cleaned up behind them, were very professional and charged a very fair price.  They are our go to people for anything related to tree removal, and because of our experience with them we have recommended them to our neighbors who have also used them.  You will not go wrong using this great firm!
