"Before deciding where to buy the flooring I visited both big box stores and another flooring store, and Towne was more knowledgeable and helpful by far. The salesman took a lot of time taking care of us, explaining all the pluses and minuses of different kinds of flooring. We decided on getting cork for the kitchen and luxury vinyl plank for our back room. I knew that there was some kind of problem with the subfloor in the back room, as it squeaked a lot when you walked on it, and it was uneven. The person who came to the house to measure took account of that, and I told him I wanted it fixed so it was proper. The installer they lined up took the time and effort to figure out the problem and fix it. After tearing out the old flooring and luan base, they actually screwed the existing plywood subfloor down to the joists underneath, as the original builder had missed the joists in a lot of places when nailing it down, and used a thinner layer of plywood than is usually used. This installer used screws to fasten it securely, then put down another layer of tongue and groove subfloor over the old. The floor now doesn't squeak and is much more solid feeling. Then the installer did an extremely good job of laying the two floors down, paying much attention to detail. We couldn't be happier. We knew going in that it was not going to be a cheap/easy project, but these people took it on and did a yeoman's job of the whole thing. Don't be afraid of using Towne. They are located in the Oneonta Plaza in the East End. <br />"
