"John was very nice on the phone, the guys that came out were very nice. I know nothing about electrical work so it's hard for me to say about "quality of work".. It was an emergency in our minds and they made it go away so we are happy! And may have them do some more work for us."

"Our house is over 30 years old and the electrical panel was in questionable state after various contractors over the years had accessed it for their projects. For safety and security reasons, we had Rooster Electric upgrade the electrical panel. The electrician needed to cut the house siding to install the new panel and did so expertly, providing new trim and caulking. The job looks great and we feel safer now that the panel is up to specs. Thank you, Rooster Electric, for walking us through the project and doing excellent work. Weâ re so tired of contractors taking the quick and easy route to get their job done rather than providing good, respectable customer service. Youâ ll get our recommendation whenever someone asks if we know a good and trustworthy electrical company. L&N in Fair Oaks"

"Our electrical panel was over 30 years old, and a power surge ensured that it was done. Luckily, Aaron got on the job, got the necessary permits and linked up with PG&E to get the replacement in quickly. He and Josh worked together to reduce the downtime and my power was back on in less than seven hours. Thanks for a job well done!"

"Our experience was FANTASTIC! Chris was not only friendly but extremely personable and knowledgeable! I had so many questions & he answered all of them plus some. He originally came over just for a quote but ended up being able to fix everything we needed on the spot! Then, when he was done checking out everything I originally called him about, I was able to go over other concerns & even future projects with him. It was such a great experience & I will definitely be calling him for all future electrical needs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Orangevale, CA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
