"<p>Overall, Norma did a very good job during the 7 plus months from start to finish of my renovation.  She listened to my requirements and gave options to meet those requirements during the design phase.  As I was not in town during the renovation, she coordinated with my contractor and coordinated the installation of shades and carpeting.  The final cost for her services was 90% higher than her "high" estimate at the time I contracted with her, which I attribute primarily to the fact that it appears that Norma more often does individual rooms, rather than an entire gut renovation, and she underestimated the time that would be needed.  In addition, I insisted on ordering from Build.com when possible, which limited her ability to get paid by some of the vendors.  Her usual mode, I believe, is to order from local stores, charging you the retail price and paying the store the trade price.  However, I was not amenable to this overall, so I think I paid more on an hourly basis.  If I had known how this would go, I probably would have negotiated a flat price for her services.</p> <p>That said, Norma's design skills are excellent. I love the layout of my place, and I love the red marmoleum floor in the kitchen, which I never would have known to do without her! She was good humored about all my involvement, as I picked the paint colors, carpet and furniture. She had a good working relationship with my contractor, and I love how my place turned out!</p> <br />"

"Becker Architects worked with us to provide a final design for the exterior of our house that we absolutely love.  A simple but elegant design that met our budget.  We never would have though of such a design by ourselves or from the other architects we interviewed. They provided detailed before-and-after construction design that left little guessing for our contractor.  He is responsive to phone calls and email and helped us address issues with city ordinances.  All this plus their rates were very reasonable.  In short, I would recommend Becker Architect to anyone doing extensive remodeling (inside or out)."
