"5 Stars! Class act! True professionals! We have a large home that had been invaded by bats. And when I say invaded, I mean a nasty, smelly, wall and roof damaging invasion. Our whole house smelled like cats had peed all over for years. It was the bat urine and guano in our walls and roof! If I sat in the most damaged rooms for too long, my eyes would literally burn and water. I started down the route that most would called an exterminator. Nope, they don't handle bats. After some searching on Google, I found some local contractors who advertised bat work and said they could handle the job. During my search I also found Western Bat Specialists, and I am so glad I did. I called them, and they patiently educated me about bats. I learned that because bats are a protected species, there is a season and a very specific process for removing them and then correcting the damage they leave behind. I quickly realized that this was not a one man type of job. The entire team at WBS worked diligently with me for months as we worked with the insurance company, conducted exclusion work, submitted reports, met with insurance adjusters for inspection after inspection. They were always happy to take my call, answer all my questions (and I had A LOT of questions!), and schedule work to my convenience. They arrived on time every time, worked for 10 to 12 hours a day to keep their promise of completing the job in 3 days, communicated with me throughout the entire process and treated me and our home with respect. They tore out walls, replaced sheet rock, repainted and even happily took on extra projects I kept adding to the list. Our home is now bat free and smells clean and fresh! I cannot say enough good things about the entire team at Western Bat Specialists. From the ladies at the corporate office who were in constant communication with me on the phone and email, to the foreman and his crew who did the physical work at our house. Stellar human beings! I highly recommend you call them if you have bat problems on your property. You wont find a better solution or group of people to work with."

"I'm very thankful I called Ace Ventura pest and wildlife control. I knew I was hearing something scratching in my bedroom closet, I just didn't know what it was nor how bad it was. Ace Ventura came out and found rats eating through my ducting, wires and insulation. Rick was great he took pictures and showed me what was going on as I was too afraid to go up there. He gave me much needed relief when he closed up the very large holes they chewed. His team also cleaned out my whole entire attic and replaced with brand new insulation, fixed my ducting and wires. He was on time and called me 15 minutes prior to arrival. He set me a 2 week follow up right away to check back. It's been awesome to solve my issues. Thank you Ace Ventura."

"The two young men arrived on time, were friendly, polite, and obviously knew what to do and how to do it. And they explained all the steps they took and why. They also sealed up any cracks and all the vents on my house so no bat or bird can make a home here again, all in one visit. I would not hesitate to hire this company again!"

"It went rough, but we were both at fault. Had to say that first. But I am mostly satisfied. The outside sales person was on time for the walk through. He was nice and seemed knowledgeable. He had a lot of prior experience as a laborer before he became a sales rep. He was able to present his company and offer a quote on the spot. I agreed and gave him a deposit. Off we go. Right? Well, he based his quote on 700 square feet when it was actually 1100. That's why his price was low. You would think that I got a deal. But no. The labor crew only showed up with enough insulation for 700 SF. Not enough. So here is what we had to do. Introduce Jose. The lead man on the project. If it were not for him, it would have went south in a hurry. Turns out that Jose is a good person with a soul, and I am happy to "work with" a great person like Jose. APP is lucky to have him, and I hope they are taking good care of him. Just so you don't think I am fake, the "helper" that Jose had that day was worthless. Didn't want to work because he is a 20 year old kid who was out all night drinking and chasing girls (or boys), and was hung over. I did more 90% more work than he did (yes, I helped Jose. I have a good soul too). I let Jose vacuum out the old stuff, then I made him stop. He understood. Come back when you have 1100SF of insulation. Right? Before he took off, Jose up-sold me on insulating the bottom of my house (in between the floor joists under the sub floor)(under the house), applying a radiant barrier in the attic and switching from blown in cellulose with the pink panther batts. I ended up insulating under the house by myself. Nice. I communicated that to APP, but it got lost in translation. When the day arrived that Jose returned with 1100SF of material to finish the job, he showed up with two helpers. BTW, I had to request the APP office to please make sure Jose was who they sent to complete my job. Regardless of my implicit instructions that I subsequently made with the APP office, that I changed my mind and now want blown in cellulose again, and NO radiant barrier, Jose and crew still showed up with pink panther batts and radiant barrier. Whatever. The crew is there, lets get to work. The reason I only give them a B is because they installed the radian barrier wrong (in my opinion). I did research and radiant barrier should be one inch from the roof sheeting (plywood) if it's hot southern California. They stapled it to the 2x4 rafters so it's really 3-1/2 inches from the sheeting. Not sure if it is even radiating anything at this point. I think I just wasted a $1000. Even so, my neighbor asked me who did the job, and I ended up giving them the APP biz card, so I guess that was kind of a recommendation."

FAQs for bird and bat pest control service projects in Oroville, CA

Bats slip through gaps as small as 1/4 inch, so your best defense is a thorough seal-up and a few simple habit tweaks. Start by caulking or screening every crack around chimneys, eaves, and vents. Swap dim porch bulbs for brighter LEDs or motion lights (bats dislike the glare), and consider an ultrasonic deterrent if they keep circling.

Finally, remove easy snacks—cover standing water and skip the nighttime bird-feeder refills. These steps go a long way toward keeping your home bat-free.

Standard homeowners’ insurance rarely pays for bat removal because insurers view it as routine maintenance. You might get partial help for guano cleanup or related repairs, but that varies by policy. Review your insurance policy carefully and contact your provider for a definitive explanation. Securing all entry points remains the homeowner’s responsibility to prevent future incursions.

The sweet spot for bat exclusion is late summer through spring. That window keeps you inside most state rules and protects baby bats that haven’t learned to fly yet. Removal activities are conducted when bats are less active, with some states permitting work from August through May and others ceasing removal in March. Consult a qualified bat removal specialist to confirm the valid timeframe for your area.

Spotting a dead bat can be unsettling, but a calm, careful approach keeps everyone safe. First, call your state wildlife office to report the find and ask about local rules. Snap a quick photo from a distance, then—wearing disposable gloves—place the bat in a sealed plastic bag for disposal as directed.

Wipe down nearby surfaces with disinfectant, wash your hands thoroughly, and schedule a pest-control pro to make sure no live bats (or harmful guano) remain hidden in the house.
