"We have had a pest control contract on each of 3 homes since 2006 and LOVE our friends at First Response. They make it easy for us to renew our contract annually, come out each quarter to service our home, and on the very rare occasion we've had a pest concern they've been super responsive. I always answer the phone when I see they're calling! They show up when they say they will, charge the amount agreed upon, and we very rarely see any bugs at all. Huge peace of mind! I think our annual service agreement (for 4 quarterly treatments) is about $600."

"Jake from Buckeye was great to work with. Very responsive and patient in talking through approaches to dealing with some bats in our attic. Members of our family have used Buckeye for a variety of issues over the past several years and have always been satisfied. We highly recommend them!"

"I had not any birds come back. I thought they were very professional and caring about the work that they were doing, I was very pleased. Their price was far less than anybody that I called. They were very accommodating and did clean up after work."

"Mice problem in 4400 sq ft of attic; they removed all insulation then disinfected and sanitized the area. Installed new thermal, acoustical, and pest control insulation. Inspected and sealed any exterior entry points. Also included food traps. Josh and his team are fantastic, very professional. They communicate at every step of the way. Cleaned up at the end of every work day. Would 100% hire them again."

"Wagers was knowledgeable, helpful, and to the point. He knew how to identify the droppings left by our guests, and where to look for their entry points. After sealing those off, we've had no more issues with wildlife invading our home. Highly recommend, and will use again for all of our wildlife needs!"

"Randy was amazing! We had a bird get into our fireplace for the second time in four months. We thought we had the problem fixed back in March by the fireplace company we hired, but that's not the case. I called Randy at 8am and he was at my house at 11am. He knew exactly what the problem was and put wire around the gap and was done in 15 minutes. He also took time to look above my garage because I was paranoid we had animals all over the house now. He also checked the outside of the house to make sure there were no other ways animals could get in and showed me where the previous owners had patched a place where a raccoon likely had access to above the garage. I appreciated how helpful he was and how he fixed the problem! Hopefully we're done with birds for good!"

"Jim is a knowledgeable, skilled professional...very personable, and dedicated to finishing the job at hand quickly, safely, and completely. He responded and arrived at my home within a couple hours of our phone conversation, evaluated the situation (badly injured racoon, likely struck by a car, with damaged back legs, starting scavenging back porch at night). A cage/'trap was bated and set at the entry area to the porch, and the racoon was trapped and removed the next morning without any further issues.... I highly recommend MyCritterPro for any animal removal issues you may have....a great job."

FAQs for bird and bat pest control service projects in Columbus, OH

You're likely to find nesting birds in external areas such as your gutters, eaves, porches, and chimneys. Some birds also nest in less obvious spots, like attics or even in your ventilation systems if they gain access. A reputable pro will conduct an inspection before starting any work to check for evidence of where birds may have set up roosting or nesting sites in your home.

Leaving birds to roost and nest on your home creates significant risks that affect both your home's structure and your well-being. The constant droppings, aggressive swooping, and persistent noise can damage siding, allow moisture intrusion, and stain exterior finishes. In addition, the birds’ pecking and droppings can spread diseases and parasites, which can lead to escalating repair costs and health hazards.

Yes, humane removal is possible and ensures that birds remain unharmed during the extraction process. Experts use proven methods to safely capture and relocate both birds and their nests to secure environments. Professionals employ stainless steel spikes as a deterrent while avoiding harmful techniques such as poisons or glue traps. You can rely on trusted specialists who strictly use safe, noninjurious methods, thereby protecting the birds while resolving the nuisance.

Yes, there are legal considerations when removing birds and their nests. You must adhere to strict local and state regulations, which safeguard protected native species during nesting season. Special authorization is required to remove protected birds, their nests, or eggs under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Observing these legal mandates avoids violations and ensures safe, responsible removal.

To prevent birds from returning after nest removal, you can implement deterrent methods. Installing stainless steel spikes creates a secure barrier that prevents birds from roosting without causing injury. In contrast, loose nets may entangle birds and other wildlife, creating additional hazards. A trusted professional will choose and install the optimal method to keep your home bird-free.

A bird’s nest remains viable for a period that depends on the species. The construction phase concludes within 2 days to 3 weeks, followed by a rearing stage lasting 2 to 10 weeks. Most birds become fully independent within 2 to 6 weeks, while certain predatory species require up to 2 1/2 months. This timeline can guide you on when it's safe to intervene.
