"Tanner, Matthew, Kaden, and Joey, who installed both showers, were easy to work with, and very professional. There were a couple of issues that they ran across with the construction of the house, but they were able to solve the problem and install the showers. I am extremely happy with the â lookâ of the new showers. They are exactly what I wanted."

"We needed a building cleanout installed as a requirement for our remodeling project. Cornelio was very thorough in investigating what were the requirements for the inspection. He installed a dual cleanout following all the requirements which will help us in case of any backups in the future. He was very transparent about the cost, and finished the installation on the following day. Highly recommend him for any plumbing issues."

"Went very well. Due to COVID 19, some suppliers were delayed in delivering required fixtures which delayed project weeks but in terms of Build the Bay, they did demo, fit tub, installed tiling, new shower and fixtures added once completed. It delayed project from 5 weeks to about 7 but not the fault of Build the Bay Inc. Build the Bay Inc. was very competitive in price, recommended some suppliers to shop materials from. Eitan was very good at communicating via phone, text and e-mail and his team was very professional, courteous, on time and did a great job. I am very pleased with the outcome of my remodeled master bath."

"We were pleased with the work that was done. It took longer than expected due to a home depot trip but we were initially pleased with service. We had them fix a running toilet (one of many things) and was told that it should stop, and that we would not need to replace toilet. The toilet kept running, and is still running. My husband made attempts to contact them and at the end of day there was no follow through on their end. We also wanted to do some other jobs that we talked to them about but because there was no follow through, that didn't happen either. Follow through is important to us so I would rank them lower, but this is about what we have experienced since moving to the Bay Area. Thus, I would say our experience was average. There is not a maybe option on using them again so I said, "yes."  I believe the quality of work is good but we are dissatisfied with the constant communication  needed on our end to conduct and complete business. <br />"

"Ovation Restoration did an excellent job with our home improvement project. In our master bedroom, to take advantage of a fantastic view, they removed a large window from one wall, sealing it up like new, and installed a similar window on another wall. The work was performed quickly and skillfully, with great results. They also turned the double door leading into that room into a single door, creating more space in the room. Concurrently, in the guest bathroom, the old tub was removed, and a beautiful walk-in tiled shower was installed, along with a window with a fantastic view. The project manager Rick was a pleasure to work with, and his team were all professional, conscientious, and friendly. Everything turned out just as we imagined. We would highly recommend Ovation Restoration."

"Reached out to a few plumbing companies needing emergency work on a shower valve that needed to be replaced. Chandlers plumbing responded within minutes and had somebody at my door within 20min. Price point was reasonable so I gave them a shot. They did not disappoint. They got me back in business quick and they did a really clean job. I would definitely recommend them and use them for future projects."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Palo Alto, CA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
