"Evan returned my call promptly, we made an appointment, and he kept it. The problem was solar panels and a connection that was broken. Evan found it quickly, corrected the problem within an hour and cleared off the solar panels which had gotten gritty over time. We recommend him!"

"Noah exceeded my expectations at a competitive price . Clear communication, and fast! His estimate was spot on and it was clean and professional work. Noah did a 60amp sub panel install for my new garage, and also wired in four new outlets in my basement as I only had one down there. Thanks Noah, I recommend him to family and friends every chance I get and I always get positive feedback from the recommendation"

"After one of the snowstorms we had this last winter, we found ourselves without electricity. A tree had fallen across our power line, ripping the electric meter off the house and hurling it across the lawn. Perhaps it is needless to say that we felt like the helpless prey of the Universe. On the advice of a friend, we called C. B. Electric. This company proved to be fast and reliable. Their charges were reasonable. They were polite, really nice and reassuring people. They told us when they would be here, and they came when they said they would, which was only a day or two later. They immediately started a search for a replacement meter. When they got that, their work was fast and was performed with what I like to call "snappy exactitude." We absolutely could not have been better pleased. Electricians just don't get better than this."

"Greg from GSC Electric was prompt, professional and friendly. My kitchen was badly in need of additional lighting, especially over the counter tops. He laid out the lights to give excellent coverage and my wife and I were very pleased with the results. (She especially, because it was a surprise). Making the wire runs from the power to the new lights and dimmer switch was a little challenging due to the nature of my attic and walls, and he had to cut through 2 layers of sheet rock for the lights but it all went off without a hitch.
It was really a great deal too.
    Thanks,

"Everything went wonderfully with this company.  They were very professional, listened to exactly what my problem was, and explained to me how they were going to diagnose the problem and/or solve it before doing any actual work.  Once they started, the team (three people came) worked together like a well-oiled machine.  One was in the room with diagnostics, one was at the fuse box looking for possible problems there, and the third went into the crawlspace beneath our house to look at the physical wiring.  Once the problem was found (there was a faulty wire beneath the house that had come loose from the junction box), it was fixed and tested within minutes and another full diagnostic was done to make sure there were no other possible issues.  They cleaned up after themselves very neatly.  They also replaced the light switch with a dimmer switch at no extra cost!  Well within my budget, and came in even lower than their original (FREE) estimate!  I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the Bergen County area.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Paris, ME

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
