"It has taken me this long to write a review for creative living painting because I frankly didn’t want to give them one more moment of time. But now that I’m having painting done by a different company- I can tell how many corners were cut and that the quality issues I had are not from too high expectations but rather improper service; and other potential consumers deserve to know. Pros: the crew was always very polite to me, I never felt uncomfortable with them in my home, and they were very respectful of my property on the first round of interior painting. Much of the work was done well- though there were definitely areas of improper preparation and lack of attention to detail (although it was worse when they did the touch ups). They helped move things that were too heavy for me to move, and were very kind to my pets. They also did do a very nice job making and installing decorative beam covers. Cons- there were numerous areas of improper prep (cords that were clearly cut off and old were not removed (nor was I even asked) previous owner’s artwork hanging nails were left in place, holes were not patched, doorknobs not removed or covered, hinges and latches painted over) and technique- areas of dripping, lint from rollers in paint, painting tape painted over and not removed, outdoor areas not scraped and just painted over (now peeling up only a few months later), tape edges not removed from floor, black bathroom hardware with clearly visible drips and paint marks, etc. However my biggest issue was in management’s handling (or lack thereof) of these issues and in the way they spoke to their employees (and me). When I later questioned that behavior, I was told that they had to be spoken to that way because they “are painters and don’t understand” other types of communication. I was angrily called and asked why the crew hadn’t accomplished certain things, and basically yelled at to find out why. I felt so uncomfortable that I left some concerns unstated because I didn’t want the crew to be yelled at. When I informed Jayson and Silvi of some of these issues, like staples left all over my floor, and a cord with sharp staples left in my yard; I was told that they investigated and the employee threw it away at the street and it was witnessed by 3 other employees (until I found video footage of them tossing it in my yard, and me cleaning it up before my dogs hurt themselves). I was also told I should be grateful they don’t charge for touch ups. I finally got so disgusted that I demanded they get their stuff off my property that day and leave (I would rather pay a different company than continue to deal with them). They told me they would, and they did… but they never set up a time nor announced themselves. Jayson entered my property without even knocking or ringing a doorbell (my roommate was home the whole time). Then, when I arrived from work sooner than expected, I found my gates open and that Jayson had been on my property for almost 2 hours and filmed and taken pictures (my lawyer had to get involved for the footage of my home and access routes to be deleted). He then spoke to me in such a concerning tone and manner that my roommate heard and had to intervene and ask him to leave. This was an absolutely terrible experience that I now have to pay another painter to correct. Despite the fact that I paid over 47,000 dollars to have both the interior and exterior painted. And while they did say they would go back through and I could highlight areas to fix (though they had already been there doing touch ups and skipped it or created more issues)- I think it’s quite obvious why I didn’t want to interact with Jayson and Silvi further."

FAQs for traditional stucco repair or partially replace projects in Pasadena, CA

Minor stucco fixes—like sealing small cracks or adding fresh caulk—often wrap up in an hour or two. Larger jobs that call for cutting out damaged sections, installing new lath, and layering fresh stucco can stretch to three or four days because each coat needs time to cure. A pro removes loose material, cleans and dampens the area, applies a bonding agent, and builds up new layers, matching texture and restoring the wall’s weather shield.

Watch for a stucco surface that stays damp days after a storm, develops dark stains, or feels soft or spongy under light pressure. Inside, moisture rings, peeling paint, or soft drywall around windows point to the same issue. Any of these red flags mean water is trapped behind the siding, and it’s time to call a stucco pro before rot or mold sets in.

Give your stucco a once-over every spring and fall. Semiannual checks let you catch hairline cracks, stains, or damp spots before they snowball into pricey repairs. Keep a flashlight handy, look closely around windows and doors, and call a pro if you notice anything soft or discolored. Staying ahead of minor issues protects both your curb appeal and your home’s weather barrier.

A pro starts by scraping away loose material, then cleans and lightly wets the area so new stucco will stick. After brushing on a bonding agent, they build fresh layers, letting each coat cure before adding the next. The final step is matching the texture and color so the patch blends in and the wall regains full weather protection.

Think of repair as a patch: the pro fixes only the visible crack or hole. Remediation goes deeper—crews strip away the compromised stucco, correct the root problem (often water or mold), then rebuild the wall. If tests show structural rot or trapped moisture, remediation is the safer, longer-lasting route; otherwise, a straightforward repair often does the trick.
