"The rear section of the fence at my townhouse fell down due to a rotted out support post where the original builder had just planted the wood directly into the dirt. The fence was about 6*x24* with a gate. I contacted MC Fence and Deck (among others) to quote out a replacement, and MCF and D had the best price and promised the best quality of work, including pouring concrete for the posts. MC Fence and Deck came in and replaced it and hauled away the old stuff in 1 day, very happy with their work."

"I hired Thomas Builders LLC to power wash and stain my fence. The fence is six years old and needed a touch up. The power washing was so excellent that the fence looked new when completed. The stain was chosen and a white picket fence look is now aesthetically complementary to the entire home decorum. The job went very well and the cost was fair. The owner ensures you are completely satisfied with the results and has superior customer service. I would recommend this company to anyone in my network of friends and family for achieving the result that you need for your home."

"It was a massive project that included pressure washing and staining exterior decks, interior painting, plumbing, electrical work, and the installation of cedar tongue and groove shiplap on the walls. There are probably other elements of the project that I am forgetting at this point. Bret did an awesome job with it. I think the before/after photos speak for themselves. I highly recommend Bret Pelfrey at Detailed Precise Handyman."

FAQs for wood fence repair projects in Paw Paw, WV

Financial responsibility depends on where the fence sits. If it’s clearly inside your lot, you foot the bill. When it’s right on the property line, state laws—California and Illinois are two examples—usually require both neighbors to split repair costs equally unless you agree otherwise. Check your local rules before scheduling work so you know exactly what you’re on the hook for.

Start by walking the fence line and noting every issue—loose boards, leaning posts, cracked panels. Next, gather at least three quotes from licensed contractors, comparing experience, warranties, and costs. Once you pick a pro, they’ll secure materials, reset posts, and fix or replace damaged sections. A thorough inspection and a qualified contractor keep the fence safe and extend its life.

Straightening a leaning fence costs an average of $200 to $400. A fencing pro will assess the damage, reset or replace the posts, and realign the panels so the fence stands upright again. Fixing the lean early on prevents further strain on framing and keeps the structure both sturdy and attractive.
