"Matt and his team were professional and friendly. He communicated well and was punctual. I had him put in an EV Charger out to my driveway and also needed to upgrade my electrical wiring which became more difficult than expected but Matt honored our agreed contract and had even saved us some money on figuring out a better solution. I highly recommend Matt and his team for any electric service."

"Dereck has completed several jobs for us including installation of a lamp post, upgrade electrical panel to 220v, installation of new plugs and upgrading light switches. He is reliable, honest, skilled and overall a very nice person. He response quickly to calls and he arrives as promised. His fee is reasonable. Terry and Mike Flaherty"

"The job went perfectly. Stephen and Ashlee were amazingly professional and knowledgeable. They upgraded my house to a 200 amp panel, with completely new interior box and exterior meter (including wall modifications), and new grounding and protection. In addition they installed a few LED lights around the house as upgrades. They were finished in three days, as quoted, and were on time and efficient every morning. The inspector even went out of his way to comment what a great job was done. I will absolutely be using Cotti-Johnson again."

"This company goes above and beyond. Christian, the owner personally appeared 1 day after our initial conversation. He was very prompt, professional, and his pricing was broken down very well. (In a way that I could truly understand what I was paying for and why) We had endless last second electrical upgrades we needed when purchasing a new home for our family. Even with an unreasonable timeframe, our scope was completed! The work itself came out great, I have numerous electricians in my family. When they came over for our house warming party, they were incredibly pleased. The scope of our work included: -200 amp service upgrade -new interior panel -new kitchen wiring -new dimmable recessed lighting -outlet repair and addition -grounding upgrade -exterior security lighting -code upgrades throughout my home Christian was incredibly kind to my family as well, we have a handful (rather rambunctious) children and animals who love when visitors come. They were treated with the uttermost respect. My overall experience is easily an A++ (bonus points well deserved) (Where is the 6 star option? LOL) I highly recommend this company, if you need a genuine contractor who is going to truly treat you properly personally and finally, this is your go to."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Pembroke, MA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
