"They told us at our initial sit down that they would be sending a team out to our house to complete this install. The team was one person. Seemed like he would go in between different jobs along with ours. Only a few days were spent totally at our house. This is what dragged the install out. Nothing against the person that installed it the company needs to put more hands on deck. Had issues with stair steps breaking. Then they repair stair with warped board. Still currently waiting to get the stair corrected. We feel they were quick to take money but slow on fixing the issues. Photo attached is the warped board they placed on the stairs."

"I needed carpet and vinyl flooring installed in a short period of time, which Empire Today was able to fulfill. I felt that I paid a premium for service on short notice, which I expected. The salesperson was a bit pushy and asked more than once, "do we have a deal?", which felt smarmy. On the day of installation, all went as planned until the vinyl installation was complete. The quarter round was not replaced. When I asked about it, the installer said that "it looks fine without it," which I disagreed with. He offered to put caulk down, which helped, but still did not look like a complete project. I did not like how he dismissed my request. I sent more than one email to Empire Today about this problem, but they did not follow up with me about this issue."

"Very disappointed that things didn't go well with this company at all, because I'd really looked forward to working with them and accomplishing several projects around my home. I gave 1/2 the money up front. First, they worked a few days then left to do another job. Finally came back and built a deck & pulled up carpeting, then left again. I asked for an 8x8 deck & he built a 10x10 because 'he knew I wouldn't be happy with it'. Showed up again in a few days & nailed down some shingles, and I asked if he'd found the leak in the roof. He replied that 'it wasn't easy to locate roof leaks'. We'd discussed ahead of time putting trim around the windows but he didn't do it the way we discussed; unfortunately the way he did it wasn't going to work since I was having the house painted different colors. Asked him to remove the trim & he never came back again after that. He's very defensive when questioned & will no doubt write a defensive response to this review, so you might want to take that with a grain of salt. My advice is if you hire this company, know exactly what you want them to do and monitor their work closely so that if they do something different than what you'd discussed you can get things back on track. Also ask for receipts and labor costs for each project as it's completed. Wish I had done that, because I'm not at all convinced that I got my money's worth."

"They did a great job, I'm so glad that I went with these guys that I have decided to take time to review them. My home was hit with hail previously so I knew kind of what to expect, my insurance agent said give these guys a shot and you will be happy you did. I've even used them for remodeling my basement. Well they delivered great service, and great compassion for my damaged home. I can't say enough good things about the crew. GREAT JOB MARk, Richard and Steve"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Pennville, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
