"Installer arrived a day late to start and informed us the various areas would need to be leveled causing extra expense and time. Reason for leveling was due to some areas of old linoleum said to be asbestos which could not be removed except at great expense. We do not understand why person sent to measure did not inform us or the office of this situation. <br /> This resulted in the project lasting almost a week for which we thought would be 2-3 days. <br /> Installer never arrived earlier than 9-10 AM. He also did not respect other areas of the home by placing tools and other supplies on carpeting. He did not make it easy to move around the home in order to access the other bathroom. He also was disrespectful in calling the lady of the house "momma". <br /> Overall a very disappointing experience with the exception being a good appearing floor. <br />"

"It went pretty well. The 2 employees were friendly, and worked efficiently. The only problem was an old stain surfaced that hadn't been previously visible. (It had something to do with the type of chemical used by the previous owners to clean.) I called and the workers came back and worked on the spot. Unfortunately, it returned after the carpet dried. I emailed and 1 worker came back to try again. The spot is much lighter, but not gone. I'm sick of dealing with it at this point, and since we'll eventually replace the carpet with hardwood, I haven't had them come back to try again. (Which they offered to do.) The rest of the carpeting looks very good."

"Integrity was very professional. We are in the process of moving 2.5 hours away and house is on the market. With two kids, a good cleaning was necessary. (Our carpet probably needs replaced.) I setup the appointment by phone, I received reminders, and was notified when the cleaning was done. I wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with the service prior to payment and the staff at Integrity was completely okay with that. They strive for 100% satisfaction. I am very pleased with how our carpets look afterwards. <br />"

"Scheduled at my convenience and completed without issue. Installers were careful when bringing materials and tools into house. They were pleasant and felt comfortable leaving them to do work without being in house all the time. They did good job and satisfied my retired contractor husband. Price was competitive and even if it had been a tad more would have still been worth it. You have one contact and one person to deal with the details. Also they offer rewards for referrals which is nice . Jill from Floor Coverings brought samples to me--no running around comparing colors, also a great touch. Would use again for sure"

"Flooring America was fantastic. Our carpet looks great, they delivered as promised and installed beautifully. I was amazed at how great the carpet looks! <br />My only negative is that I don't think the padding was any better than the old padding we had. But overall our experience with them was wonderful! <br />We went to the Flooring America in Ankeny not West Des Moines. <br />"

"They have good prices and they have good service. Their scheduling of installation was terrible. It took me about a month and a half to get my floor in. I don't think he knew he was doing. They took out my flooring. In about a week before it was supposed to be installed, they told me that it had been discontinued. I went and took the different flooring which was in stock. I lost my installation date which I thought was their problem and not my problem. In the kitchen, you have to put things in a certain order and I had them slotted in for their time period and they blew their time period. I was very unhappy. They need to make sure that they can deliver what they say they're going to deliver. They need to keep their word."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Peru, IA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
