"Jim Young was prompt, professional, personable and thorough. His crew did a great job, showed up when scheduled, completed the drive paving efficiently, and answered questions even after the job was completed, taking care to fix a minor oversight. I can highly recommend JY and would without hesitation use them again!"

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Don Champion is one of the most qualified and pleasant contractors I have ever worked with. His crew is a well-oiled machine that works as if in a ballet. Everyone knew their jobs and payed attention to detail. Quality was a priority and it was clear that nothing was overlooked. When unpredictable problems occurred, they were taken care of without a problem. The final project was the Mona Lisa of driveways. Finally, the pricing was totally fair. I recommend Champion Paving without reservation."

"It was early November and time was of the essence. I had gotten a few paving companies to come out and look at the job, but they all wanted me to wait until spring because they were too busy. It was hopeless and I resolved that I would have to hold off. Then Richard called me back on Friday From A-Plus and says he can come out and look at the job. He wasted no time and wrote up and estimate in the driveway. The price seemed unbelievable reasonable so I said ok. He replied I can start tomorrow and be done Monday. He was true to his word and his large crew work quickly and efficiently. I am not kidding they did this whole job in about 14 hrs. I love this company because it is all family they had tons of experience passed down for generations and just excellent group of brothers, cousins, nephews you name. Awesome job all around."

"Larry and his crew were very professional.  Larry came out and surveyed the driveway; then proceeded to tell us he didn't need to pull up the entire driveway!  Music to our ears!  He explained exactly what he thought should be done and gave us a written quote.  Larry was in constant contact with us for scheduling and delivered some of the equipment the night before work was to begin.  The crew was punctual and efficient.  After the work was complete, we were given instructions on when we could bring our cars back and initial care. The invoice was the exact quoted price!  Larry assured us he would be available for any questions or further concerns.

"Richard, the owner, did an excellent job with his crew. They did exactly what they said they would do.....clean up driveway from all loose debris, removed grass where needed, leveled and put a nice layer of bisect and then put a thick layer of topcoat. He did a few extras that I asked for also such as adding raised asphalt burns to divert rainwater. I also had him sealcoat my back driveway. Excellent work and will use his services again next year to sealcoat the long main driveway. I am talking about 75 yards long and six yards+ wide! Excellent work for the cost!

"Great! I had them look at my gutters about adding flashing and they showed that the original contractor did not install flashing at all! Behind my gutters Also showed me the improper work done by the people that repaired my roof. I really appreciate their honesty and excellent work Would use again and highly recommend."

"I had the company pave my driveway in 2001; they did a great job paving the driveway. Starting in 2004, I attempted to have my driveway sealcoated. Each year I would call and they said they would call me back to schedule when I could have it sealcoated because they would only come out when they traveled to my town. They did not call me back. I phoned them again in 2004 and they said I would be put on the list for next year. I was not called back and no one showed in 2005. In 2006, I needed to have a portion of my driveway fixed, they quoted me a price and they came out and promptly did it when scheduled and they did a great job. They said we should phone them in the spring to have the driveway sealcoated that the asphalt would be cured by then. I phoned them again next year, they did not call back again. I respectfully told the company several times, on several different phone calls, how upset I was that I was not getting a call back, and they did not seem concerned. I was continually told that my name and phone number would be added to the list and that I would be contacted in the early spring as to when I could schedule the necessary sealcoating. If they did not come to my town to do any work, I can understand any reluctance to travel the additional time to come out here. However, they are frequently both in my town and have paved many driveways on my street over the last few years. So there really should be no reason not to schedule the job. While the company does a great job paving, if it does not want sealcoating jobs to preserve the asphalt, they should not state that it sealcoats, if they do not want the work."

"Dave and his crew were incredibly responsive. There were a variety of solutions we could have tried, but Dave suggested starting with the easiest, least expensive, and see how it goes, which he thought would work. He was right on. I'm clueless on paving and could easily have been led down the garden path, and spending big bucks. Dave is honest, a great communicator, professional and does the job right. Kept us in the loop, and followed up quickly when we had questions. I feel lucky we found him.

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Peterborough, NH

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
