"Excellent quality of work and customer care. Great value offered and very satisfied with the end result. We addressed an 80 foot piece of fence with river rock (8 tons) and it looks great. They also built us a patio with brick pavers. It looks great as well. Would hire again and recommend to anyone looking for professional landscaping and hardscaping."

"I feel like my house got a facelift and Jon Gross was the architect. The porch looks timeless, like it has always been there and the ramp is unobtrusive. The whole house has a fresh look with the new entrance and lighting. At first I thought the project was too pricey, but I picked expensive pavers and Jon worked with me on the price. I am so happy with the outcome. Just goes to show you get what you pay for."

"Very happy with service performed; professional, prompt, courteous. We have ~ 1 acre with multiple large beds that required a lot of clean up and edging. Am very happy with the outcome and the ongoing weeding/lawn care. Have gotten numerous compliments about the appearance of the property now. Will continue to use these folks."

"I contacted Dennis after hearing of his firm from Angie's List. We played phone tag a little bit but finally contacted each other. Dennis offered to meet with my wife and me after our work hours -- I don't get home until 5:30-6pm -- or on a Saturday which made it very conveient for us. He came that Saturday and we showed him where we wanted the work done. He offered suggestions, which we agreed to. A week or two later he sent us the good faith estimate, which we returned immediately with the 50% down payment. The work was done 8/5/11 and my wife and I are very pleased with the results. There is some other work we're looking at doing in the fall and Dennis will definitely be our #1 contractor to complete this. Kudos to Dennis and his staff on providing us a pleasant experience in getting our landscaping work done."

"Completed. I was told I should check with a heating and cooling business to make sure the fireplace was to code. It turned out that I should not use the fireplace. Floor of fireplace could crumble after a few fires! So glad I took the suggestion!"

"When we asked around for a mason with a good reputation, Halfar came up in all of our conversations. They lived up to their reputation with us: <br /> Upon our request for a quote, the owner of the company came to our house within a week to assess the situation. We had recently purchased a new home, and the inspection had revealed that some of the external bricks on our chimney were spalling and the concrete crown had exhibited some minor cracking.  <br /> Steve inspected the chimney very closely and told us that the damage was not to a point where he believed the bricks needed to be fully tuck-pointed. Rather, he suggested that his company could save us some money by patching and sealing the damaged areas of the chimney. He was open that this would be a temporary fix (5-6 years), but that it would ensure that no further damage would occur in that time (by preventing water from entering the brick and expanding during the freeze/thaw cycles we have around here). We appreciated the honest assessment, as other masons we spoke with told us they would only be willing completely replace the chimney (to the tune of $4-5k). <br /> If you read the other reviews for Halfar, you'll notice that they are so busy that they tend to be booked several months out. This was the case when we hired them, but Steve was up front about the situation. He also assured us that our damage was not a time sensitive situation and that as long as we addressed it before winter we would be fine. <br /> Halfar's masons showed up at our house sometime about 2 months later and completed the work in less than 2 days. The workmen were very professional and did a great job of cleaning up after they finished. Our chimney looks great and we're very happy with the quality of the work and the price. We definitely recommend Halfar to those of you looking for a quality mason. <br />"

"From the beginning of the process, which was general idea gathering, to initial design, to construction, to final product their attention to detail and customer satisfaction was outstanding. <br /> <br /> The owner and his team were on time each day. The only wait we had was for the large stepping stones which had to be special ordered and the weather. Once they arrived and the weather cooperated, the work progressed daily until completed. At times they worked into the early evening. The owner worked with us each step of the way and adjusted as we modified our plans. His attention to detail and profesionalism made for an outstanding end product. I will use them in the future.  "

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Philo, IL

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
