"Half of their work is very good. The other half is mediocre. They patched, acid etched and coated our 58 year old concrete porch with polymer modified coatings. Less than 6 months later the coating is worn and chipping off. They acid etched and coated the garage floor and said it would probably crack someday. Someday was 3 weeks. They removed the old wrought iron railings and installed new aluminum railings whose angles and placement do not match. They still have not replaced the small railing gate protecting the basement stairs. They installed Unilock Pavers. The pavers are basically level. They were supposed to repair and reinstall our chain link fence gate. They dug out one post and reset it leaning north. The gate was worse than before they started. We had to pay someone else to fix it so that it stays closed. They removed and replaced the asphalt driveway and did an excellent job but we spent 2 weeks with the driveway dug down to the clay with machinery and debris everywhere. The two river rock sections are very well done. They work, when they please. They say “we’ll be here tomorrow” and finally show up days later with increasingly outrageous explanations. This project is not finished and we are very displeased with the quality of the work and the way that Uptime Builders do business."

"Overall, I'm extremely impressed with LPD+Architectural Stonescapes. Ninety percent of the work was very good the first time; for the remaining part that had some problems, they returned twice more and kept after it until it was done. The bluestone repair, patching up a great big hole, is invisible. If anything, it looks better now that before the excavation. And supervisor Maria Larios was on-site taking charge of the most of the actual work, which is really rare in my experience. Thank you for excellent results.

"Along with the work described in the Big Deal, he also installed an exterior light fixture over my porch. The work was fair but it still needs some additional work to correct a minor flaw that allowed snow to blow under the base of the globe. The base doesn't fit flush against the wall and there is a small opening. Apparently that is not something that they can repair, so I have to have someone else out to do that work. He was also late in arriving to my home."

My parents were right, Pete and his care did a great job. Not only did they build on outside kitchen they built a fire pit area separate from the kitchen area. "After coming to our home promptly to provide an estimate on the job, Mr Castro (logistics/sales) did the measurements and offered some suggestions. We then advised that we were constrained by a budget and time, that we had already spoken to other contractors, but liked potentially what he and his company had to offer, he responded that he would have our estimate/proposal by the end of the business day or early the next. As it turned out we heard nothing. We called him, his office and left a message. Two several days later, and after talking with other contractors, we did talk to Mr Castro and another employee of the company. He apologized and stated that the estimate/proposal was forthcoming. When we finally received it on line it was way above our targeted budget. It was much more than their competitors, but given the information we saw on Angie's List and the glowing reviews, we thought we would try to work something out - even if we had to go above our tight budget - and in light of our time constraints. Mr. Castro, and presumably his superiors, balked at reducing the price. We therefore lowered our expectations as to what we wanted and asked that they recalculate the cost. They seemed to take their sweet time about it. Plus, during subsequent conversations between Mr. Castro and my spouse, it seemed that they weren't particularly interested in our business, once again hesitating to come to a consensus on the final price. We even noticed an authorized change in the type of materials being used ( a difference in the brand/type of pavers to be installed). When we brought it to their attention they made the change but the bid was still too high. We didn't hear from them for about a week or more, by which time we decided to go with a different contractor that was willing to work with us. Given the great rating this company has had in the past I guess it has gotten to the point where they don't need to seek out business that doesn't exactly adhere to price that they set. As it turned out we did go over out budget, but the company we went with took the time to work with us an kept it on budget - and added some extras that they really didn't have to. Good customer relations goes a long way. NO ACTUAL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED OTHER THAN PROVIDING AN ESTIMATE/PROPOSAL.
