Working with William Mackay roofing was a great experience.  I knew from my home inspection that I needed to have a membrane sealed on my roof. I called three roofers before the winter and during early spring and every one of them was slow to get back to me, or just not very informative, would charge for the estimate, etc...

I called William Mackay based on the Angies List service reviews and I was not disappointed.  They contacted me immediately through the app.  They were available and they arrived on time.  They provided a free estimate, took photos of my roof, and shared them with me. They showed me exactly what needed to be done and they were straightforward - they did not try to sell services I didn't need.

When I inquired about scheduling, they had space on that day's schedule - they immediately called a worker in and got to work on my roof. The maintenance was completed in a few hours. They took photos of the completed work and emailed both "before" and "after" photos with an in-depth explanation  of the completed work.

Ben and Bill Mackay (sons of William) handled the job. Ben Mackay shared information on how to maintain my roof.  I'm a new homeowner and I bought a well-maintained house that is almost a century old. He shared info on the difference between newly constructed roofs and the materials used, and roofs like mine.  Bill managed the job.

I paid a fair price but more importantly, I know that I can call them and they will do a great job.  They also stand behind their work. Family owned businesses are important - they rely on word of mouth and repeat business.  Highly recommend.

"Excellent work! At least 1/3 of my roof on the north side had a great deal of moss on it. On much of the rest of the roof there were small amounts of moss along the bottom edge of shingles, and there were patches in scattered places on the main part of the shingles. After Hector and his son cleaned the roof, it looked brand new. They removed plants and furniture from our deck before the job and replaced them after the job. They even did a light washing of the vinyl siding of the house, which was outside the agreed-upon scope of work, but they did not charge me for it. As a former member of a site safety office in a then-Fortune 50 company, I was particularly impressed with the excellent precautions they took to insure their safety on the roof during the job. "My husband and I had a lot of questions and discussion with Robert before we made the choice to go with K&R Roofmasters. Robert was very patient and thorough in his presentation of what his company does when replacing a roof and in explaining our options. After his initial presentation, we had many questions before making the decision. (We had a previous bad experience with a different contractor when trying to obtain a roof estimate, so we were overly cautious.) All our questions and concerns were met with patient explanations. Robert was the ONLY contractor that went in our attic to inspect the roof from the underside before giving us an estimate.  When we made the decision to use K&R, we felt pretty confident that we would be satisfied.
Our roof was way past its lifetime. It was "potato chip" condition and there were leaks. Because our budget was straining from making this purchase, we were concerned about what would be discovered under the old roof shingles. Unfortunately, a lot of pieces of plywood had rot in it and had to be replaced. Robert's team checked every piece of our roof for structural integrity so only the pieces which were actually damaged would be replaced. This helped to save us money rather than just telling us it all had to be redone. Robert never tried to pressure us into doing unnecessary work which we really appreciated.
The team Robert used was a group of nice, hard-working, respectful men; Robert supervised and did some of the hands-on work. Everything was cleaned up well and the end result is a very well done, attractive roof with a power fan to keep our attic cool to help protect the shingles so they will last longer. We have gone through an entire winter with snow, ice, wind, and lots of rain and there has not been one leak or problem with our roof. Robert told me several times if we have any issues, call and he will tend to it and I'm sure he will, if needed.
Also, anytime I called the office, I had respectful and kind staff members help me.
I would highly recommend K&R and if I have a roofing need, I will be calling Robert!

"I am a senior with a background in construction.  After reviewing many contractors and speaking with some of them, I immediately knew I hit the jackpot when I spoke to Danny.
 
1.  He knew exactly what I needed and wanted done when I first spoke to him.  This entailed the replacement, repair, and installation of the items listed above with attention to quality in materials, prevention of future problems, a fair price, and a commitment to starting and showing up once the job was initiated.  Danny exceeded every expectation in these regards!
2.  I silently knew in advance manufacturers, quality and cost of exterior doors (including the french door), storm doors, door locks and deadbolts, leak-proof door sills for 6 inch exterior walls and a leak-proof barrier on the bottom of the door frames.  Without knowing of my preferences, Danny suggested the identical manufacturers and materials I had in mind.  At this juncture, we met and I hired Danny to perform the work.
3.  I am beyond pleased with the outcome of Danny's effort on this project.  As an example of his integrity, he asked me to trust him in the design and installation of an exterior octagonal window in a bathroom.  My wife and I were literally blown away with a handcrafted symmetrical waterproof tunnel and inside wall frame he created - more akin to an artistic piece than a window.
4. Inside work was always minimally invasive using tarps and soft shoes rather than work boots.  Outside and inside cleanup at the end of each work day was respectfully performed leaving no mess.
I would recommend Danny to anyone requiring any kind of interior or exterior installation, modification, or repair as I have seen firsthand examples of his experience, skills, and personal and business ethics.  In fact, Danny is presently working on costs to replace our roof."

"Nikos the salesperson was very professional and helpful. Nikos suggestions were very informative in regards to the type of the doors that would fit perfectly for this type of older house. Nikos worked with us in drafting several contracts before we were able to finalized the contract and the start date. The measuring department informed us that the doors needed to be customized and special order. The installation was schedule for (2) days. However, Oscar and his professional crew started around 8:30 am and was able to completed the job around 7:00 pm. The installation went well since the crew was working on a older house. The installation crew section off the work area and did a complete clean up of the work area. Thank you Hammer and Nail Exteriors for doing a great job!
