"Everything looked great and he was easy to work with but I've tried to reach out to him through the app and by phone with questions about some crumbling. No response. Disappointing."

"Collins Paving did a new asphalt driveway June 2022 for $15,000. The install it was a major headache. Jerry complained entire time- about me, my driveway, the job, even his crew's work ethic. That fall of 2022 the driveway developed ponding in three large areas. I left emails, phone messages and never got a response. On May 5, 2023, I contacted them to seal the driveway (per their instructions at install). They responded right away. When they came out to seal, July 16, 2023, I explained the problem and was told to 'call the office'. I called weekly for 2 months. Finally, on September 9 Jerry and Steve came over and were quite confrontational with me. It was very uncomfortable, but I bit my tongue because I wanted it addressed. In the end, they both acknowledged the issues and recommended I have them address it in the spring and give 'one more winter'. I started calling & emailing in late March 2024. I finally got an appt in August. I waited all day until 4pm, made several calls the 'office' (no one answered). When I called the following week to inquire about my appt., Shauna said that Jerry and Steve came over and no one was home. Not true. Since then, I've called again and again and it's the same response from Shauna. "I'll let them know'. When i ask when I can expect a follow up, I'm told, 'I'm not sure, they are on other jobs'. I've kept track of how many times I've called and its over 30 times. They have no interest in talking to me. Shauna answers the phone and takes another message. At this point, less that 3 years after install, my driveway is sinking, cracks are forming, and I am forced to get resolution through 3rd parties. All I wanted was help figuring this out and I was hoping we could work this out together but I’m being ignored. I would avoid Collins Paving. There is so much more I could share."

"I feel like this company has been lying to me from the beginning. In March of 2024 they gave me a quote for $2800 to have my driveway paved. I agreed. When they got here they said they did a test and the ground on my driveway wasn't compressed enough even though 3/4 of it was concrete already and I was having them cover the concrete and grass on the sides of the tire paths. They said they had to lay 4" extra inches of asphalt so it didn't crack and told me $3800. I said that's outrageous and we worked out $3500. I was here the day they did it and as soon as I saw them pulling trucks out I went down to check it out. I have natural stone walls on both sides of the driveway and there is no way they laid 4" of asphalt total let alone 4 inches extra. They had also laid the asphalt directly even with the lip of the garage. The driveway slopes down to the garage so I knew water was going to get into the garage if there was a heavy rain. I asked the same day before they even left if they would just add a little lip in front of the garage to keep the water out. They insisted they were doing more work on my street and they would come back in the next week or 2 to do it. Fast forward to now, September of 2025, over a year and a half later and countless texts and phone calls of promising me I was their top priority, and I slipped through the cracks, and the business had gone through some leadership changes, and that it was the first time the owner was hearing of this even though I had spoke directly to him before. Multiple times he said they would come out and add this small lip and I didn't need to be there and they didn't need access to water or electric. It was all B.S. and through all of this they never once reached out to me. It was all me contacting them except when I told them I was going to write a bad review. Once again lies and broken promises for the last few months since then. I will never use this company again or recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for asphalt paving repair or patch projects in Pittsburgh, PA

With routine maintenance, a new residential asphalt driveway can last 15 to 20 years. In regions with heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles, plan on extra maintenance to hit the upper end of that range. Concrete surfaces last even longer, from 20 to 25 years. Regular sealing and quick crack repairs go a long way toward preserving both materials.

You can pour new concrete over an existing driveway as long as the base slab is solid. Pros often place a three- to four-inch overlay to create a strong bond. If the old concrete is cracked or spalling badly, it’s wiser to remove it and start fresh to ensure durability.

Keep the surface in top shape by sealing it on schedule and tackling damage right away. Roll on a quality seal coat every three years for asphalt, and reseal concrete as needed while patching any flaws you spot. Staying ahead of small issues prevents bigger, pricier repairs and keeps your driveway looking sharp.
