"Project: Remove old concrete front porch steps and install new. We were very happy with Brians Concrete Services company. He called literally minutes after I had submitted my request for a quote, and came by that same day to look at the job. He and his crew came over the next week, and completed what turned out to be a more complex job than expected within the original time frame projected. He and his crew worked long days, and were very professional in their work. We are very happy with our new steps!"

"Their system is that they do a cement plug into your crawlspace after they put in a drainage system to eliminate any water in the crawlspace. They were a great, punctual, very knowledgeable, and professional. It was an excellent system, just a little too much for me. It was just no the correct solution for my crawlspace."

"Excellent job. Very friendly, listen and took care of all of my concerns. Very, very hard workers. For many years we have tried to get the rain water to drain away from the garage they took their time and measurements constantly and now we have a beautiful driveway that wonâ t let water in the garage. Outstanding job if you need concrete work done this is the company to call. Rated 5 + Thank you to D & J Concrete."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Plainville, IN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
