"I recently had installed a hot-mix asphalt surface on my driveway. It encompassed approximately 550 feet in length. A good portion of that footage was a single 11-foot lane, but as it approached my home there is a circle drive with a landscaped area and differing widths of paving was needed, which required some rather intricate work. Also, part of the job encompassed paving up to the concrete area in front of my 3 car garage and to the sidewalk leading to the front of our home. Nelson Boswell and his crew of professional staff did an outstanding job of researching exactly what I was looking for, developed a plan for manicuring the existing gravel drive base, and applying the asphalt surface. They were extremely courteous, attentive to my needs above everything else, and did what they said they were going to do. They also were able to complete the whole project in a span of two days. At the end of the project, I thoroughly inspected the work, and do not have a single complaint. In fact, I would readily recommend them to anyone! Oh, and one other thing: they were very cognizant of my lawn and landscaping, going above and beyond to make sure nothing was disturbed."

"These guys are phenomenal. My old patio was in horrible condition when we bought the house, these guys came and tore it out and poured a new 18x20 slab that looks great, all within just a few days it was ready! If you want hard workers who actually care about the quality of the finished product then I definitely recommend these guys. Thank you Southwind!"

"It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. My e-mail that he sent me was forwarded to my new address and I didn’t know that the company was doing that. He got back to me within 48 hours after purchasing the deal but I never got the e-mail. I called his number and he called me back to wonder why I hadn’t responded to his e-mail on setting up a time. We got everything set up. He came out, measured it and told me he will figure out a bid. I had the bid first thing the next morning. He has great eyes. When he tells you something, that’s what’s gonna happen. He told me that he would be able to start the job about a week and half from that time. He was right on schedule. They had to come out and inspect the area because they had to follow codes. You also have to remember the dumping fee of all the old concrete that had to be ripped out and this was included in the price so it was a good deal. He had to take it to his truck and dump it and he had to pay dumping fees in order to do that. It was totally fair. I have 2 more jobs for him as soon as I can afford it. Everything was cleaned up. It couldn’t be any better than this. This is good stuff. He’s happy and likes me because I gave him a check the minute he was done. This guy is good. I already recommended him to my friends and neighbors."

"BARKLEY REMOVED THE OLD, BROKEN ASPHALT, GRADED THE AREA, AND LAID 4 INCHES OF HOT MIX ASPHALT (APPROX 17 SQUARE YARDS). THE BID TOOK A LITTLE LONG TO RECEIVE BUT ONCE THE DEAL WAS SIGNED THE JOB WAS PERFORMED INSIDE A WEEK. A FOUR MAN CREW SHOWED UP AT THE APPOINTED TIME ON THE APPOINTED DAY AND COMPLETED THE JOB IN 2 1/2 HOURS. EVERYONE WAS COURTEOUS AND THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF CLEANING UP BEFORE THEY LEFT."

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Pleasant Hill, MO

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
