Customers say: Super punctual

"Greg, Jason and team were fantastic to work with from start to finish. We were impressed with the attention to detail and desire to ensure our expectations were met. The team throughout the project cleaned up at the end of each day and did not create excess damage to the rest of the yard surrounding project area. Our completed paver patio, fire pit area and slab stone steps was above our expectations and we continue to receive many compliments. We love our new outdoor oasis!!! Thank you Crosstown Concrete."

"Travis and his team were TOP NOTCH and I cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking for concrete work or excavating. When we first met with him in the early spring of 2018 we told him we weren't in any rush and that we just needed to have the steps replaced by late October. We were pleasantly surprised when he called us in early August and said he'd be able to get to us in early September 2018. Within two days our cracked and crumbing steps were gone and replaced with new concrete that looked amazing thanks to Travis and his team. He and his entire crew were a pleasure to work with and we could not be happier with the final results of their work. It also should be said that Travis is a very cool guy that keeps things direct and simple - he's a real joy to work with from start to finish."

"He had a big job to do to get the old epoxy off and pitch the water away from the edge of the garage. The real test will be to see if the pitch is enough after a hard rain. He made the floors look super nice with tons of specks of the color I ordered. I think I will have this floor for many years to come now."

"We did not have to completely replace the side staircase or redo the basement entrance for both instances. They were able to rein-enforce, repair and resurface these deteriorated and previously moss covered and crumbling concrete areas. It was handled in 1.5 days. Very professional, kind and capable employees. Left the sight very clean and did a spectacular job on the repairs. The areas look like new entrances. Very well done! The price was great as well. No complaints. We’re very pleased with this company and will be using them again."
Our team created a trench to the footings and filled it with a drain pipe and rock to channel the water to the sump pump.
This is the front of the steps, before the Gardner Construction team resurfaced the steps and replaced the sidewalk.
This homeowner wanted to replace the window and needed to repair the cracked and crumbling foundation.
The Gardner Construction team installed a new glass block window, providing additional security and a vent, and repaired the foundation.
After installing the sump pump and the drain tile system, our team repours the concrete.

"My experience with Jared and Paula couldn’t have went any better and I love my new kitchen! They were on time, communicated daily even when I had a ton of questions choosing a color. I am so impressed with the quality and durability of my cabinets. They even painted my kitchen for free! I will definitely use them again in the near future!"

"We had an old patio slab removed and replaced. The patio itself looks good and we have no reason to question the quality of the work at this point. However, there were some issues with the process that we think could be helpful to others. They came to our house before the project to give us an estimate, so they saw the distance from our back driveway to the patio, and we also told them before the project began that we had an underground sprinkler system and that other vendors had driven on our lawn over boards that they provided to protect the sprinkler heads. However, when The Original Driveway Design workers did the work on our patio they used sledgehammers and saws to take out our old patio by hand. We later leaned from their supervisor that they did this because they did not have enough boards with them to get their heavy equipment to the patio site. It was a lot of extra work for the crew, they worked extremely award, and we do appreciate their hard work. But, we just had our house painted (the painters were actually still on-site when the patio work was performed), and the saws threw a tremendous amount of fine concrete dust all over the back of our house and our second story deck and deck furniture which was 20 or more feet from the patio. We found out later when having our windows cleaned that they also got actual concrete, not just dust, on the sliding glass doors by the patio, which had to be scraped off to clean the windows. The contract specifies that the homeowner is responsible for restoration (which for us meant buying dirt to fill in the 4-8 inch gap between the new slab and the lawn when the forms were removed), but they are responsible for cleaning the site, which should include cleaning up the concrete dust they created. When we asked about the concrete dust, we were told that we had to spray down all the dusty areas ourselves after the concrete cured. Although we did not like that answer, we are getting our house ready to sell so we followed their instructions, but the concrete dust is still visible. In our view, they are the experts and should have planned better for the job--either bring the boards you need to get to the site with your equipment, or if you choose to go the manual route, have a much better plan to minimize and clean up the dust. At a minimum, they should have warned us about the dust issue and let us decide how we wanted to handle it. We would also recommend asking about the timeline. We wish they would have communicated better about the timing of the job. They started our job on a Thursday, but did not finish. No one showed up the next day. We had not been told what was going on, so we called and eventually were told that the job would be finished on Saturday. It would have been nice to have had better communication on that. In fairness, they did stick to their original quote even though they found the job was more difficult than they initially anticipated.

FAQs for concrete finishing, overlays & coloring application projects in Plymouth, MN

With proper care, a stained concrete floor easily lasts 20 years or more. Reapply sealer every two to four years to protect against moisture, scratches, and daily wear. Routine sweeping, occasional damp mopping, and prompt repairs keep the surface looking sharp and protect the slab underneath, preserving both function and resale value.

Stained concrete can crack if the slab is exposed to extreme moisture changes, heavy impacts, or settling. Small hairline cracks are mainly cosmetic, but deeper fractures can affect the finish. Inspect the floor regularly, address moisture issues quickly, and hire a pro for timely repairs. Staying on top of maintenance prevents minor flaws from developing into larger, more costly problems.

The longevity of a concrete stain depends on the product you choose. Acid-based options chemically bond with the slab and are essentially permanent. Water-based stains sit on the surface and can be lightened, darkened, or covered with a new color at a later time. Select the stain type that aligns with your long-term design plans and your willingness to reapply the stain in the future.

You can update the color by cleaning the slab, lightly etching it, and applying a new layer of stain. Re-staining bonds to the concrete and resists peeling far better than paint. For a dramatic shift—such as moving from a dark acid stain to a lighter tone—you may need to grind the surface first. A flooring pro can advise on the best approach for your specific floor.

Stained concrete combines longevity with a modern, custom look. The finish resists heavy foot traffic, moisture, and everyday wear, so upkeep is minimal—routine sweeping and an occasional damp mop are usually enough. Because the color is inside the concrete, it won’t peel or flake like paint. Homebuyers also appreciate its sleek aesthetic and low maintenance, which can add a slight boost to your property's resale value.
