"Lyle was great to work with and imagined the project exactly as it turned out. The project was complicated due to tight access and existing structures, a large hill and required a structural engineering plan. The crew led by Vidal managed it perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were respectful, listened, and provided extra service when asked and stayed within the timeline as planned."

"What is very important to me and my husband is not only the quality of work but someone who knows the electrical codes and does not try and cut corners. We've hired people who work on the side and it doesn't always work out well. I will definitely all Randy's Electric again, which I have to because I bought the wrong light fixture and now I have to have them come back out and switch. But now I have an electrician/company that I can count on."

They went above and beyond to answer any questions or concerns I may have had. Quality of work is impeccable. One time both days and cleaned up afterwards. I can’t say enough good things about Jorge and the team. Thank you guys so much for a job well done. I will be contacting this company for future projects"

"

We sat down and planned the work to be done and established the day to begin and how long it would take.  The price was negotiated to mutual satisfaction, and he came in about the middle of estimates provided by four companies.  He assured us that the moving of heavy equipment and large rocks across our back yard could be done with little damage, and that which occurred could be easily repaired.

He did the work personally with one other workman on time and with an eye to appearances.  They were courteous and careful.

"We contracted with Tony for a major project to completely redo our backyard with landscape and hardscape features. What you can count on getting from Tony is a relentless focus on quality and doing the job right as well as complete transparency. One of Tony's specialities is understanding the nasty clay soil that is prevalent in Maple Grove - if you are curious check out his facebook page were he has posted some videos. While the additional drainage work added 4 days to the project - the peace of mind knowing our foundation isn't holding water is well worth it. With respect to the actual work - our patios and retaining walls look fantastic and the plantings bring just the right balance and look great. The wet Spring and early Summer cause a number of unavoidable delays, Tony was very communicative along the way keeping us informed on the timeline and options to get back on track. I would highly recommend Tony and Stone Age Landscapes to anyone looking for the very best in landscapes and hardscapes."

"It turned out the work I needed have done would have been more expensive than what my regular guy would have charged. I spoke with Joy Beckman in their offices through email, she very nice and easy to work with. Scheduling also wasn't going to work. My sprinkler guys is getting closer to retirement and I will most likely use this company when that time comes."

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Plymouth, MN

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
