"VERY BADLY - See for yourself: CONSUMER BEWARE ! I signed a contract with this company to replace my countertop with quartz; the office person Elizabeth Boffil told me that my sink will be damaged when the old countertop is removed, so I purchased a new sink from D & R. She also said that the sink installation is included in my contract but not the plumbing to reconnect the pipes; she said it was not a problem as the D & R employee who will install my sink can do the plumbing work and reconnect the pipes but I would have to pay him directly. I asked her why it could not be included in my contract and Elizabeth said that this is the agreement the company has with this employee. Since that employee is employed by a licensed company I went along with it. On May 25, 2021, D & R employee, Ronald Boffil installed my sink and I agreed to pay him $180 for the plumbing. He told me that he may have to move the pipes because my new sink had a different shape and size. When the work was done I asked Ronal Boffil if he had to move the pipes and he said: "No, I jiggled it and made it fit". I issued a check as agreed for $180 which was cashed by R. Boffil - The check was clearly marked "For Plumbing". A few days later I had a major flood in my kitchen that spread to the dining room and living room. When I called D & R , Elizabeth said: "Oh no, that's impossible; we have installed and reconnected hundred of sinks and this has never happened". I decided to re-check that company and Le County Community Development Licensing Dept. informed that D & R's license CB07-00026 was issued for cabinets and countertops installations but the company has no license for plumbing. I checked with Florida Business Professional Regulations (FBPR) and received a written confirmation that Ronald Boffil has no plumbing license. This company's gimmick to have unaware consumers pay for plumbing work directly to an employee is just a scheme to bypass local governmental regulations. Unfortunately it took over a week to dry my place and my insurance paid thousands of dollars for water mitigation and repairs. Personally I had to pay another plumber almost $300 to fix the problem as well as disburse $1,000 as my insurance deductible before my insurance would reimburse for the expenses caused by the water damage. Consumers, Please use great caution with this company when it comes to plumbing - they are not licensed and can create huge problems and expenses. And they refuse to even accept the fact that they are doing plumbing work, hiding behind their employee, AND NEITHER THE COMPANY NOR THE EMPLOYEE HAVE A PLUMBING LICENCE. I would not recommend this company ever."

"The kitchen remodel went well and I am very pleased with my new kitchen and flooring. The job manager Dave was really nice to work with and available to ask questions and gave good input on the remodel. The GC, Don and office staff were pleasant to work with as well and were helpful thru the process. This was the first time I’d ever hired someone to do a job of this scope so I was a novice going in and very nervous about the whole thing but now I’m really happy with my home and beautiful kitchen and floors. Thank you Don DeFlavis Construction."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Port Charlotte, FL

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
