"D&D Concrete INC did an amazing job on replacing a portion of my sidewalk and walkway on the side of my house. Josh did a good job communicating the scope of the project, timeline and following up with my questions. The overall completed job by the team satisfied my expectations. "

"I?m incredibly disappointed with the work that was done at my property. Mine was a clear case of underbidding and miscommunications. The good: nice people and they did do a lot of work. Just not everything they bid on. Bad: the front yard of my house looks worse. We knew we were being fit in but they seemed to be in a hurry. They focused on one aspect. Overcharged a known addition to compensate for under bidding and still didn?t do the clear away that they were supposed to do. If his tractor couldn?t do the work he just didn?t do it. They were supposed to clear back an entire field and he stopped half way and said he was done and then he left the downed brush despite an email I had stating they would remove or burn the brush as their costs. When we pointed out the miscommunication it ?was what it was?. We spoke many times about what we wanted done - it shouldn?t have been a suprise. Again they did a lot of work but I?m upset they didn?t fulfill the terms. Would not recommend. "

Small jobs welcome

"Working with Esau was truly a great experience. He was communicative and available to answer all of our questions and he and his crew did the job with speed and efficiency. I donâ t know if we could have found anyone else on such short notice to do as close to good of a job as they did on our back yard leveling project. I highly recommend him and his team; amazing work for a good price."

FAQs for excavation major grading or resloping projects in Portland, OR

You can excavate in winter, but frozen soil slows down the process and increases labor costs. Many grading companies offer discounted rates during their off-season, so ask for a winter quote and weigh the savings against a longer timeline. A brief conversation with a local professional will help determine whether cold-weather excavation is suitable for your site.

Foundation digs can be completed in as little as three days or take up to three weeks. Soil density, access, weather, and hidden obstacles all play a role, so every timeline is a bit different. Have your contractor walk the site and flag any potential issues early—clear expectations help keep both the schedule and budget on track.

You must always call 811 before excavating. Dial 811 a few days in advance so that utility crews can mark underground lines and ensure the area is safe for digging. Hitting a buried cable or gas pipe can be both dangerous and expensive, and many municipalities will not issue permits unless the site is flagged correctly.

To remove soil during an excavation project, your crew will load the spoil into dump trucks with a backhoe or excavator, haul it to a disposal site, and return for the next load. Efficient hauling keeps the work zone clear and the project moving. Depending on the site and volume of osil, multiple trucks may rotate to maintain a steady flow.
