"Rigo helped us out when we got in over our heads during a project in our back yard. We unearthed an old patio which had sunken down unevenly and was directing water toward the foundation of the house. Rigo worked with us to come up with a beautiful solution. Not only did he fix our drainage issues but he also did a wonderful job pouring a new patio. We had many concerns but Rigo was calm and helpful and never seemed frustrated with how difficult we were being. He was also very reasonably priced. We're 100% satisfied with his work and recommend him for concrete projects... Even small ones which you thought you could take care of yourself."

"Bottom line up front: This is how working with contractors should be! Hands down, this is the absolute best contractor we have ever, ever dealt with!
Our project was the removal of an existing dilapidated deck to be replaced with a new patio constructed of Nicolock pavers, surrounded by a two-foot high sitting wall. The project required than an existing window from the basement be sealed and stairs constructed to sliding glass doors. The design also called for four exits from the patio, all with steps (either up or down). Because of the location of the sump pump drain, it was necessary to reroute the outflow into a dry well, which they also constructed. Some minor regrading was involved, too.
The salesman, Mike Walters, was knowledgeable and easy to work with. We had drawn out the shape of the patio we wanted and based on some research, had some specific requirements as to how we wanted the patio constructed. Mike worked with us to make appropriate modifications to the contract to meet our needs. Notably, he also pointed out one thing we wanted that they wouldn't be willing to do because it could cause problems later. It was a minor issue and my wife (who is an engineer) said his reasoning made sense. We appreciated a salesman who was willing to say No and give a good reason instead of just agreeing to everything just to get the sale. The bid he gave was not the lowest we got, but we were much more comfortable with this company than the low bidder.
We had scheduled the job well in advance and everything began on time. The job took about 2 weeks to complete. The workmen were extremely competent and hardworking. They cleaned up after themselves well every day (the only complaint we have in this regard is that their truck leaked oil and nothing was done to clean it up).
There were several times when adjustments had to be made to the original plan due to unforeseen circumstances. The owner explained the situation and made recommendations and let us decide how we wanted to proceed. No pressure, just information. Even better: at least twice that I recall, they redid work they'd already done without us having to say anything to them because they knew it wasn't quite right rather than letting it slide and hoping we wouldn't notice (as other contractors have done). The quality of work was first rate. They made sure to slope the patio appropriately to ensure water flows away from the house, which was a serious concern. The only hiccup we had was that they didn't install geotextile, as we'd requested (and included in the contract). When we pointed it out, they were going to remove all the fill and put it down (without argument or making excuses), but we decided that if they'd extend the warranty to from 5 to 10 years, we'd be okay with not having the geotex. They agreed and work proceeded.
Throughout the process, the owner, John Morgando, visited the site regularly and made sure we were satisfied with everything. After the project was done, he stopped by and we mentioned wishing the grade outside the patio was a little higher, and he offered to take care of it (no charge). He also said that if there was still any efflorescence on the pavers in a few months they'd come back and give it another scrub.
The end result is simply phenomenal looking (check out the photos)!

"I hired Fortune Stoneworks to install a brick paver patio in my backyard and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The team doing the install did a great job carefully prepping the area (they were even nice enough to carefully remove grass as sod so I could replant it elsewhere in my yard). They were also able to replace my old crumbling stairs leading to the patio with new wider concrete stairs. The installation of the pavers went very smoothly and was done just in time for Memorial Day weekend. I would recommend Fortune Stoneworks for your next patio or concrete project."

"WOW and Amazing, After posting a request for an estimate on Angie’s List, AC Paving came with full service and a great price for a huge job. Our driveway had not been touched in over 20 plus years and was in some dire need of restoration. Some of the issues we had stemmed from root growth, to chipping and don't even get me started on the sorry state of our culvert pipe. We have owned our house for eight years and have done some major tree removal in this time span. During this time the root situation was getting to the point you couldn't walk outside without tripping over parts of the driveway where the roots had come pushed up the asphalt. We had been looking at getting this done for the past few years but it we just couldn’t justify spending the money on such a project that we didn’t need right away. This was until our kids started college and we started traveling to watch them play football. Spending a small fortune on hotels, dog sitters, and eating out every night was not helping us get where we wanted to be in life. So we bought an RV, we brought her home and parked her in the crappy driveway and immediately know we needed to fix what we had been putting off for all these years. Like I said I requested an estimate from Angie’s List for 6 other paving companies and to this day have yet to year from them. So, 4 STARS for them on watching where the customers are requesting services from. Chad gave me a call and we talked about what I need and was looking for. His willingness to meet myself and my wife after work was a testament of his professionalism testament to the company that he is working for. After seeing the scoop of the job came back with a price that about knocked my wife and I upside down, sideways, inside out and backwards. After we regained our composure, he took the time to explain in detail what they would be doing for and how they would be correcting the driveway terror. It all came together and with a little luck from Mother Nature we would have our new driveway on Monday, but NOOO Mother Nature was going to put me off till Wednesday. That was okay, we received a call Sunday evening for a dryer day. The crews showed up around 9am with Chad ahead of them painting the new driveway lines. After a full 9 hours of work not only on my driveway but an additional two drives on our street, it was completed a new 78foot by 26foot new monster driveway with new culvert pipe installed. THIS THING IS HUGE some friends have said we have more driveway then yard now. We’ll all most. Chad worked with us to determine how much space we needed between property lines, in addition to how much space we needed to open the RV doors and still be able to get in and out with out hitting the house as we come in and out. We have posted pictures on Facebook as well as text messages to our family to show the before and after. We have had multiple request for AC Paving’s information and nothing but complements on the look. Overall, I would give a 5 STAR review to AC Paving their outstanding customer service, pricing, quality of work, and the guarantee are well work with my wife, and I paid for. If your looking for quality work, on any paving project you have you have to call AC Paving and talk to Chad."

"I was extremely satisfied with the professional conduct of this job. I had carefully designed the structure of the shed. It was important that all the dimensions of the slab be met accurately and that the 6 posts be placed precisely and perfectly vertical. They were. Working with Jaime was very satisfying as we had numerous discussions about details as the job progressed. I provided some large salvage planks from the old shed that could be used to build forms, and he provided several significant suggestions to improve the end result. The slab was on a slight slope. He provided much deeper concrete on the downhill side to anchor the slab and resist underwash. He provided a large footer under each post before the main concrete pour, because the posts were going to carry the entire weight of the roof. I would not have thought to do that. This is the value of hiring an experienced contractor. The shed has been completed and the first delivery of sawdust has been made. The slabs stood up to the significant weight of the delivery truck as can be seen in my pictures."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Potomac, MD

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
