"Dave added on a junior suite and bathroom to my house in 2006. In May 2011, we noticed that some tiles in the shower were buckling. This seemed particularly unusual as this room and bath are a guest room and bath and are not used daily by any means, and this was on an original exterior wall. In any event, I called Dave. He came by the house the following week to examine the shower. He determined that the wall was sound (it was an original exterior wall, not one Dave built) but rather that the subcontractor did a substandard job setting the tile. Dave left indicating that he would try to reach the sub, but felt certain the sub had gone out of business. Dave phoned me the next day to say the phone number he had for the sub was no longer in service. He then made arrangements for his current sub to come over after hours to make the repair. This sub determined that many more tiles were affected and reset tile on almost the entire wall. I was not charged for this...luckily, I had kept plenty of tiles at the time of construction, so there were no materials to be purchased. I was so appreciative of such follow up service...5 years later.! No excuses made, Dave stood by his work. That's a rarity these days. I highly recommend Dave not only for the outstanding job he did at the time of construction, but for his standing by his work and those he subs work out to...even when those subs disappear. I had spent in excess of $70,000 for this remodel and felt disappointed that a mere 5 years later, it was falling apart. But Dave made it right."

"I spent a few days researching landscaping companies and had a few out to provide a bid. Cesar Calderon was competitively priced and the most responsive. I knew I was going with Calderon's after meeting Cesar and going over the project. He's extremely knowledgeable and professional. After signing the contract he had his guy out the next day to spray the crab grass that was covering our lawn. After the crab grass was dead, one week later, he had a crew of six going to town on our yard. They took up the existing lawn, installed a rainbird irrigation system with 5 zones, roto tilled the existing soil, put down new soil, leveled the ground and installed new sod. The entire installation part of the project took less than 3 days. It looks amazing! I've had two neighbors knock on my door asking for Calderon's contact info. I absolutely recommend Cesar Calderon for any landscaping project."

"<br />We selected Suda Landscape because we heard about some pro bono work he did for a local youth baseball field, some years ago. We want to support those you are willing to do that sort of thing. <br /> <br />The new rose garden was not prepared for the roses. The existing roses were moved to the new location without proper preparation. The roses were stuck in the existing lawn, with no effort to prepare proper drainage for the plants. At first the roses recovered well but now they are being ruined because the roots are exposed to poorly drained soil. It will be a major re-work to correct the problem. <br /> <br />New brick borders were left with mortar residue that could have been cleaned off with a mild acid before the sod was placed. Now it is too late and the new bricks have a white residue next to the original bricks that are appropriately red. <br /> <br />The primary purpose for Suda doing the work was to correct the drainage in yard. It was a constant issue to have the work done properly and it still is. The last effort was to correct an area of pooling, an image of which I sent to Dave. He sent someone to fix it. I asked the man if he knew where the issue was (assuming Dave had shown him the images) and he assured me his was very aware of it and would take care of it. When I checked after the workers left, he had not touched the problem area but had made a marked indentation in the yard to drain an area that I did not believe had a problem. I have given up on getting the problem fixed. <br /> <br />Twice I had to point out that the newly installed anti-syphon valves were leaking. I felt his folks should have been making sure the work was done properly. <br /> <br />The new sod looks good but it is so uneven that it can't be mowed without scalping the numerous high spots. I was expecting a smooth lawn but am having to deal with lumps and bumps. Rather disappointing, especially based on how much it cost. <br /> <br />On the positive side, the lawn is, at the moment, green in the lower spots. The plants placed where the old rose garden was are doing well and the new timer seems to be providing better watering control. The work that was requested was done, just not to our total satisfaction. <br />"

"We would like to highly recommend Urban Plantations which is a gardening service that focuses primarily on fruit-bearing trees and food-producing bushes. We hired them to do an initial evaluation and then a maintenance service of our trees and bushes which, due to unforeseen circumstances, we could no longer adequately service ourselves and which had consequently had been somewhat neglected. The job included digging up and replanting three trees: two were replanted in the ground from raised beds and the third was relocated and all three had gopher-resistant cages installed. In addition they pruned, fertilized and sprayed our lemon and fruit-bearing trees throughout the yard and replaced our 20-year-old sprinkler control box that had broken. All of the workers (Laura, Benjamin and Paige) were highly professional, knowledgeable, hard-working and considerate. When there was a problem (one of our trees needed to be replaced and we had to get a control box other than the one that was initially quoted), we were consulted before anything was done. We plan to use Urban Plantations for quarterly servicing of our trees and to help us check and do a reconfiguration of part of our sprinkler system. Our only regret is that they restrict their service to food-producing plants which makes sense, but means we have to find other help for our ornamental bushes and trees. This is a great organization, responsive, professional and knowledgeable. Their prices are on the higher end of the spectrum, but are well deserved and we recommend their services without reservations."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Potrero, CA

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
