"Last night we hired Redo Cabinets to do a kitchen remodel. We chose them because of their excellent reviews and ratings from Google, Home Advisor and Better Business Bureau. We were very happy with the professionalism of their sales team and the thoroughness of their presentation. We look forward to the project starting in late July and we will post another review after they complete the installation. We are confident that it will go well because of the excellent follow up already received 12 hours later from Alex in their production department. Thanks to Brad, Thomas and to Chris for walking us through the front end of this process."

"I had old style yellow oak kitchen cabinets. Instead of tearing them out, I decided to reface with MadCity. They were professional, efficient and did excellent work. My cabinet doors were re-made in a newer more modern style, the hinges are now on the inside and slow close, and the finish is beautiful. I am now proud of my kitchen. I would recommend MadCity based on quality of their product and work. These have a lifetime guarantee and being local, I am confident in their service in the future (though I'm doubting I will have issues). Great experience from sale to installation."

"I needed to upgrade my old kitchen cabinets and have flooring installed and Caliber did an excellent job. They responded quickly to my inquiries, gave me detailed quotes, and walked me through the many options I had for wood, fixtures, etc. Nate, the carpenter, was terrific. Friendly and professional, always on time, very detailed and meticulous in his work, cleaned up every afternoon before he left for the day. He even re-installed the blinds I needed to remove to have some moldings replaced. I have no hesitation recommending Caliber cabinetry."

"They came while I was on vacation and the tub refinish looked great. Very easy to schedule and correspond. One of their staff members even texted me photos when they finished."

"Tom and his crew did a stunning job transforming our great room. Ceilings and walls – in places in and around cabinets, wood stove, decorative cabinet insets and shelves – are all now neat, crisp, and bright. They were able to correct a myriad of dings and pops (some pretty nasty!) to the point that I really cannot see any of those flaws anymore, far exceeding my expectations. Plus, Tom’s expertise really helped me to sort out exactly the color and finish I was shooting for. The work was all done in professional manner, very considerate of our home and our time; and all at a great price! Highly recommended."

"The sales person was informed and gave us 4 quotes - one for the work we had done and 3 others for hardwood upstairs. We deferred the upstairs hardwood due to the cost...need to consider a little more. The flooring was from their commonly available stock. We requested it be installed by a given date since we had visitors planned. We were told that someone from installation would get back to us in a few days but I had to call...a couple times before I got an answer...to remind them that we had guests coming and needed to know when the flooring would be installed. Once they got back to us we were able to have the work done however they would finish it only a day before our guests arrive. I can't help that due to their not calling back, our date was pushed out but in all fairness they may have been busy. I never got an explanation. The work was done on the dates that we mutually agreed. We requested that the workers saw outside which they seemed to do although there was just a bit of fine dust in the room they worked. We thought we would take out the existing carpet but at the last minute asked them to do it and take it away (for a fair price per square foot). They even cut out a couple pieces per our request to use as runners in the unfinished basement. They completed the work on time with minimal mess and called to let us know they were finished and to tell us how long to leave a couple weights on the edge until the glue dried. No care instructions were offered up front. I had to ask. When I asked we were given a gift of a mop specifically for this pre-finished floor. The biggest disappointment was the delays in communications from the sales person and from the installation scheduler. A couple calls were not returned or they were returned after the fact. This was in spite of being encouraged to call if we had a question. The sales person said they had a larger workload than previously...maybe due to fewer staff. All in all it was a positive experience however it could have been more positive with a little more sense of urgency and communication. I would check them out again."

"John was very personable and easy to work with. The first job was an urgent one and he managed to squeeze it in and get it done on time, even working through some of his previously scheduled vacation time. He was very careful to seal off the work so that no mold was able to enter the living space of the home and gave us lots of options on materials. For the non-rush job, we had to wait awhile to have it done as his schedule was booked out for quite awhile, but once he and his team were able to do it, he made an effort to, again, get it done in time for the deadline we needed it by -- and the new roofline looks great. I'd definitely hire JP Improvements again. They cost more than some others, but they do good work."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Poynette, WI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
