"Initia interactions with Quality Builders and Remodelers (QB&R) were favorable. Communication was good, showed up on time, work looked good etc. (Job was to install vinyl siding and vinyl shake shingles) After crew left I started finding nails and waste in yard. Still not a big deal. 6 months after the vinyl was installed, I started to see bulging in the siding, almost looked like the vinyl was expanding under heat. Called and left a message with QB&R to advise them of the bulging and asked if they would take a look to see if anything could be done. Never heard from them, Six more months went by and a significant wind storm blew shake shingles off a dormer, and loosened a number of other shingles on a gable end. This time I called three contractors to price the job, including QB&R. Two of the contractors thought it had been installed incorrectly. QB&R suggested they were busy, but would take a look and get back to me. That was ~ 6 weeks ago and I've yet to hear from them. "

"Ervin arrived on time and took a good look at the project before giving us a price that couldn't be beaten, they arrived on time on the date they said they would, his employees were professional, courteous and even though they were replacing the roof we hardly knew they were here. The new roof looks absolutely amazing and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. They cleared up after themselves too, if I am in need of any services they provide Ervin will be the only person I call."

FAQs for natural slate roofing repair projects in Punxsutawney, PA

If more than 30% of your slate roof is damaged, it's time to consider a full replacement. This will prevent further deterioration and avoid costly recurring repairs. A professional slate inspection (costing between $130 and $360) can confirm whether repairs are sufficient or if a full roof replacement is the better option.

A slate roof can last anywhere from 60 to 150 years, depending on factors like installation quality, regular maintenance and repairs, and local weather conditions. Compared to materials like clay and concrete, which often last around 50 years, a well-maintained slate roof offers superior longevity, durability, and long-lasting aesthetic appeal.

Yes, you can use temporary patch solutions, such as roofing cement or patchwork, to provide immediate relief for minor leaks or underlayment issues observed from inside your home. However, these provisional fixes do not replace the need for a permanent, professional exterior repair, which is necessary to ensure the long-term integrity and weather resistance of your slate roof.
