"Pete and his crew were great. They were very prompt, showed up at the time they told me. Pete was excellent in communication regarding the job. He followed the contract and even did a few extra things for me that wasn't in contract. I would highly recommend Horizon Roofing. I get stressed when I have to deal with contractors. Pete is easy to work with and makes you feel comfortable. It was a pleasure doing business Horizon Roofing."

"Mr. Ramos and his crew did a great job replacing our rambler's roof. From the initial estimate to the final stage, he was communicative, punctuate and the result was beautiful. The quote was extremely reasonable as well, and he was there personally for the whole installation to ensure everything gets done right. Our front patio is prone to cracks and he also made arrangements with the delivery company to make sure no risk or damage is done. He also pointed out we need to install additional ventilation to ensure roof life and we trust that he will do a great job on this as well."

"Performance Roofing replaced our leaking roof (complete tearoom) and added two Solatubes and a skylight and vent in the kitchen. The work was absolutely top notch - as was the clean up. Working with Mike and his crew was a pleasure - and I don't say that lightly - he offered thoughtful advice on materials and how to best place the Solatubes. He also knew when to ask our opinions and listened carefully. The crew was a team of professionals and it showed in every aspect of the work. It was done on time, it was done right, and it was done to the price we were quoted. Mike communicated well, clear bid, good explanation of the material choices, then when the project started lots of photos showing us details and problems and explaining options and solutions. About a year after the project was completed we had a torrential rain with high winds driving the rain sideways and the rain was so heavy that the water coming down the valleys of the roof overshot the gutters - it was like nothing I've seen here before or since. In the middle of the storm we noticed water dripping from the kitchen vent fan, a bit of investigation showed that he leaking was coming down the vent pipe - through, not around the fan. I called Mike for advice and the next morning (Sunday, I think) he showed up with a plan and materials. He reworked the vent cap for the fan (with matching flashing) to prevent rain from blowing up into the vent (we have a very shallow slope on the roof). When I told Mike that so much rain was coming down that it was overshooting the gutters, he said "that's not right" and proceeded to make diverters to stop the rushing water in the valleys so that it would drop into the gutters. This fall I was up cleaning the skylight and noticed some damage along the ridge line of the roof - I texted Mike to ask about how I should go about fixing it and he said he wanted to see what had happened and that he would come by the next day to repair it. He did - and while he was there he cleaned out our gutters. The after sale service is exceptional - and pleasant. Mike takes great pride in the work that he and his crews do and it shows in the way he supports his product. I am delighted to recommend him."

"I had a tree fall on my roof. The Roof Doctor was recommended by my roof installers for service. David at Roof Doctor set up quick estimate and offered to ensure any damage/leaks were protected - while I wait for repairs and equipment to be ordered. Estimate was fair, quickly performed, and my insurance had zero questions from pictures and estimate. I was also performing this work long distance and all performance was seamless!!! Roof Doctor even gave me a discount for service after bill was established! I would not hesitate to use Roof Doctor in the future with their complete satisfaction of job well done! Thank you David & Roof Doctor of Tacoma"

"Maritime did a fantastic job. They had the lowest quote out of 5. The quote even covered replacement of the boards we needed replaced. Maritime was able to remove our old roof and install a new one over a three day period. I recommended them to my parents since they needed their torch down roof replaced on their carport."

"Excellent! We had about 5 quotes. Mike was the only one to go into the attic to check out the roof internally. . He was very through! He is honest and reasonable. You can count on his word. He and his wife Cindy were a pleasure to do business with!"

"Eric and his crew did a great job. They showed up when expected and did the roof in a little over one day. I was originally concerned that the tear-off might damage the fine mesh screens over the rain gutters but the screens are fine. GAFCO did something that I didn't expect but really appreciate. All of the flashing and vents were painted to match the color of the roof tiles. It's an extra touch that makes the roof more attractive and shows professionalism on the part of Eric and his crew."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Puyallup, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
