"Let me first state, bluntly, that I have no regrets hiring Randy and his team with Alliance Landscapes. Being and Architect myself, I deal with with different contractors on a daily basis, monitoring construction and quality control for my clients. Randy does free estimates and turns them around in a timely fashion. He was helpful and patient throughout the permitting process. This project required a retaining wall permit (any wall over 5'-0" tall in Wake county needs one) and a septic re-alignment permit. After we finally had permits in hand, and they began work, the project was completed in 3 weeks. This project took place in August, so you can imagine how hot it was outside. The team works 12 hour days. It was pretty amazing watching them do such a labor intensive project in the high temperatures. Having a wife who works from home, there was always a concern of having a construction crew around the house. This concern was quickly diminished. They were always courteous to my wife and neighbors. Cleaned up after themselves each day. Got along with our dogs and gave them their space when they needed it. Even took our garbage and recycling cans in from the street on garbage day. Having a project this size, there are going to be some bumps in the road. Whether it be unforeseen conditions or tweaks in the design as they went. Like I said I was an architect, so there were design changes I wanted during construction. Randy and his team worked with me without any complaints and were upfront and reasonable with costs associated with the changes. They rolled with unforeseen conditions and provided me with the solutions before executing them. Randy, Teo, Jose and the rest of the team were very professional and a pleasure to be around. If I had the opportunity to work with contractors like them on a daily basis, my job would be much easier. I highly recommend Randy and his team."

"Danny was immediately responsive, available on short notice, professional, detailed and likeable. I would definitely use his services again. My lawn was seriously overgrown and he had the equipment to deal with it. He trimmed all the bushes to the front door which were also overgrown and did a good job and cleaned up after the trimming. I was pleased and grateful.

FAQs for architect service projects in Raleigh, NC

Homeowners hire a landscape architect for yard design during the initial construction of their home or for complex projects involving the installation of pools or other structures. For those planning to completely redesign their outdoor space or make significant structural changes, such as adding a swimming pool or other substantial structures, engaging a landscape architect is advisable before hiring a landscaper for construction. The architect provides construction documents for the landscaper to execute the agreed-upon plan.

The time required to design a landscape depends on the complexity of the vision and the size of the property. A small yard may take a couple of days, while a substantial property with plans to add multiple structures, such as a pool, outdoor kitchen, and living area, can take up to four weeks. Additionally, collaboration between the homeowner and the architect may extend the timeline to finalize a satisfactory design.

Typically, payment to a landscape architect is due upon completion of the design, agreement on the plans, and preparation of construction documents. A deposit may be required up front to secure their services. Some architects charge a flat fee, while others charge up to 30 percent of the total project cost. For more substantial projects, it may be possible to arrange a payment plan or milestone payments.

Landscape design and architectural plans can be completed at any time of year, although you might get a better deal during the colder months. Actually implementing the landscaping itself should wait until spring for planting projects and, ideally, until summer for large-scale hardscaping projects like laying a patio or installing a swimming pool.
