"Lone Star Carpets installed all my flooring and shower tiles for multiunit homes in south Austin. My sincere appreciation is well-deserved to Mr. Tony Rodriguez! He is an experienced, well educated, well-informed, a professional and quite personable individual. Tony is the contractor working with my excellent builder, Truitt Group- Mr. Logan Leen. Tony himself was directly involved in the project from the beginning: getting all the necessary measurements, ordering martials, following up with the installation crew, and making the final inspections of the installations. He also left me with the plenty leftover tiles and material for possible future repairs or renovation!! Tony certainly gives his full attention and care one will need during a home construction! Thank you Tony. My appreciations of his installation crew: Mr. David Romero installed almost all flooring and shower tiles. He is efficient and very conservative with material usage, yet installs quality work. He is very hard-working individual and makes sure to get the job done and done wright! Mr. Juan is the crew lead as well as a great installer. He leads the group by example and makes sure all works are done correctly. Mr. Roger is a good installer and seems enjoys his work and is just happy person. I am very pleases with the service and material Lone Star Carpets provided me for all my homes, specially Tony's care and attention to my project. Mehrdad Vatani"

"The estimating service was scheduled over the phone. He arrived at the scheduled time. The measurements were taken and we were quickly provided an estimate. We gave them a very specific product to quote. They said it was high and they could show us less expensive options with a similar look. We opted to just schedule as they were at least 2K less than another bid for the exact same job. The hardwood was ordered and they scheduled us promptly. The crew arrived on time and spent quite a bit of time going over the job asking how we wanted things done. They were not trying to get away with the easiest option. In some cases, he was suggesting a harder approach that would make the overall outcome look better. They helped move our furniture and were very careful to not damage new tile floor and the furniture. They primed the old tile and then applied leveling. They were very careful to avoid tracking through the new tile. The next day, they installed the LR and half the stairway. It looked great. They cleaned up before they left. It was raining and they setup a tent in order to cut the wood outside. They finished the stairs the next day. They asked me to get felt pads and they put on the furniture before moving it back. They also moved a large table to the garage and helped me move a toilet. Very nice crew.  <br /> We found one minor issue on one stair tread and they quickly came out and fixed the issue. Now that its been installed for a week, I see some details that continue to impress me like cutting under the stonework on the fireplace. Amazing... <br />"

"They showed up early  each day (3) and started right away they took out the carpet and baseboards and started installing the laminate right away...i was a little concerned about NOT removing the vinyl flooring and that it would look uneven.. but I am not worried anymore .... the floors looks very level and flows very nicely from room to room...all the work they did looks great and very professional..... <br /> my only regret was that I didn't cover the carpet on the stairs. I should have covered them  with plastic or something because they got all dirty with all the dirt and dust that they were exposed to ....but that was my error...you see we never go upstairs with our shoes.....so i can either clean the stairs or use it as an excuse to get the stairs done in laminate too...  <br /> I am very pleased with JJ Flooring....I heard of them through my Aunt, they did her home a few years ago and the floors still look awesome.  <br /> I would HIGHLY recommend this company. <br />"

"The store is small but amazing - the product on display is well chosen and of high quality. They don't have a lot of space so a lot of time seems to have gone into selecting what they carry and display. I never thought I would say a carpet store was good looking but this one certainly is. A flair which gave me confidence that the ladies working here have a good sense for design. <br /> I discovered CDC because the large flooring store that my renovation contractor sent me to didn't have the type of carpet I wanted (seagrass) and their supplier wasn't going to have it for 4 weeks at the earliest. I called CDC and spoke with Wyoma. She said they have several different suppliers for seagrass and was certain that she could get some within the necessary time frame. There must have been a run on seagrass carpet at the time because it took her 3 different phone calls to 3 different suppliers but she did find a carpet I liked. She gave me samples to take home so I could be certain of my decision. The next day I gave her a deposit for the carpet and she placed the order and scheduled installation. <br /> Installation was a breeze...their crew showed up at the appointed day and time. The install went perfectly. <br /> Later we decided to get some area rugs made out of the same seagrass. Wyoma went over our floor plan and suggested the perfect sizes and bindings for the rugs. The new rugs were delivered within a couple weeks - faster than most places off the internet would have been able to ship them. And much better looking and sized than what I could find off the rack. And the prices seemed great."

"We were already leaning toward a specific carpet we'd found at a box store because it worked so perfectly with all our other new finishes, but after reading reviews both here and elsewhere, and preferring to do business with locally owned companies whenver possible, I decided to check out America's Carpet Outlet before making our final decision.   <br /> It was a pleasure to meet and work with the owner, David Pratt, and I would definitely recommend anybody shopping for carpet go by and visit with him.  He impressed me as quite knowledgeable and shared an abundance of helpful information about the multitudes of choices in carpets (and pads), warranties (or lack of), effects of carpet cleaning, etc., and even though ours was a relatively small job, went to great lengths trying to find a carpet that was a match to sample swatch of the box store carpet we were considering.  During this process, David worked closely with me, making suggestions, providing numerous swatches from his in-stock carpets, contacting his carpet reps to obtain color/style specific samples, keeping me updated on a regular basis, and always returned my calls promptly.  He spent a considerable amount of time with me and worked hard to earn my business. <br /> As I learned thru my extensive carpet shopping experiences, "apple to apple" price comparisons can be difficult to come by in the world of carpets because of all the variables.  That said, his posted pricing for carpet and pad seemed very reasonable (e.g., his price/sf on 8 lb pad was +-35% less than comparable 8 lb pad I'd priced elsewhere) .  It should be noted that David can refer you to any number of professional installers he works with, but they would have to be contracted with seperately as ACO only sells the materials. <br /> In the end, turns out the box store carpet that worked so well with all our finishes was a proprietary color/pattern made exclusively for and sold only by the box store and thus there was really no match available, and ultimately we decided to go with the box store carpet.   However, next time I'm in the market for carpet, I'll be going by to see David.   Next time you're shopping carpet, maybe you should, too. <br />"

"There were no additional charges. When the salesman came out, he had his samples. They had an ad in the paper. I asked the man where the carpet is. He said that if I really wanted to see it, he has some in his truck or car. He said that I wouldn't want to put it in my house because that's for cheap trailers. That bothered me. The house that I was trying to put the carpeting in was the house that we're putting on the market to sell. It's a two-story house and I found it extremely difficult to walk downstairs. I have a bad knee. They were supposed to move those beds out of those rooms that they were in and put the matresses and stuff back. When they finished, I paid them. It costed me almost $4000 for the carpet. I asked the guy if he did everything he was supposed to, he said yes. I paid them and they left. They didn't move the mattresses back in the rooms they were in and they didn't tack down the carpet on the stairs at the bottom. I called them again and one of the guys I thought as arrogant. They tacked down the carpet and before they left, I asked them if they got the mattresses back. They said yes. I went upstairs and they haven't moved the mattresses. I would not recommend them to anybody. I assumed that their price is okay. They did a nice job installing the carpet but I don't like people who do switch-and-bait on advertising. I would never called them again. I would never hire those people."

"The installers came on time and were very professional.  They pulled up the old carpet and hauled it off and did a great job of putting down a new laminate floor and cleaning up afterward. They also helped with moving the furniture. The job was reasonably <br /> priced and we are very happy with the result. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Red-rock, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
