Our second specialty is kitchen remodeling during the winter months. From 3D design to completion, we have the attention to detail needed for a successful project. "We interviewed at least a half dozen companies before meeting Ray with L&L. We instantly liked him and was impressed with his genuine friendliness and professionalism. He came in totally prepared...taking notes, making measurements, listening to what we wanted and needed, and providing us choices of various products along with recommendations .He actually had product samples along with colors etc. We presented him with a complicated task of having to jack up the main floor and a 26ft wall of windows to replace the main structural foundation sill plates above the basement wall that had been leaking for years unbeknownst to us prior to purchasing the home even 15 years ago...replacement windows had no flashings etc therefore allowing rain water to back flow over the top of the concrete foundation and down inside the walls flooding the downstairs living area and rotting the main wood structure. He was able to tackle that along with double waterproofing it all before he then began the large deck. The deck itself was very detailed. Building a deck these days is far more detailed and complicated than just slapping up the 2X6 structure and nailing the boards on top. Every deck board needs 100% end support so you really need to double think each joint/connection. Our deck was 36X18 with 3 sections and picture framed around each therefore adding to the complicated framing plus we had some angle cut edges. The crew ( himself; his son and 1 other worker) worked for days preparing the area with taking down the old deck and jack hammering out 6 tons of concrete...and hauling it all off also. All in all it was a long and difficult job through a week of heat and another week of rain. Every day I told them how impressed I was with their professionalism ; talent and ability. Every day they totally picked up and cleared the area. They were on time every day. When they left for the day they made a point of telling us that they were leaving for the day. I'm worn out now even just thinking of all they did and just how friendly and nice they all were. We couldn't be any happier with their work... and I'm probably the first to admit I can be very particular with all. You can rest assured that the job will be done correct and to the best of their ability... and these days what is also important is that L&L is a family business and you're not feeding a large corporate company. You will be happy with your choice if you choose Ray at L&L. :) They were the BEST!!!"

"As the GC for my own full home renovation, I was looking for a turn-key company that I could outsource and trust to handle the exterior work for my house (new house wrap, siding, and window/door installation). I was really optimistic about this company because they were a Hardie-certified installer. I hired them to install about 30 top-of-the-line Andersen windows, several exterior doors, and install all new Hardie siding and trim. Unfortunately things went south on day 1 and continued to spiral out of control. In a nutshell, I had three different project managers assigned to me throughout the project, and neither of them came on site once the project started (until the very end, and the last project manager was awesome... kuddos to him!). The first crew that came on board were subcontractors, not Evergreen employees. When they started to install my windows, I knew immediately that they did not know how to properly flash a window sill (they had gaps in the Vycor flashing, didn't wrap the sill properly, etc. etc.). I called this to the PM's attention but nothing was done. The crew installed all windows in one day, not properly flashed. Crew was retrained and came back to "fix" them, but still didn't properly flash them. Meanwhile, they were taping the seams on our house wrap in the rain, when the house wrap was wet, so nothing stuck and had to be redone. Fortunately this crew was let go and I was told they were going to bring their "in-house" crew to finish. The next crew was awesome and they ended up removing all windows and reinstalling them. In total, each window was installed three times! As a result, some of the nail flanges and seals were broken. I called this out to the PM and owner of the company but did not get a response. From this point on, the crew that stayed on did a good job and was pleasant to work with (but I found out they were also subcontractors, not "in-house" employees as I was told up front). The delivery of a few windows and doors were delayed by about three months, which was my responsibility. I told all project managers about this upfront, including the first project manager before the project started. He said it was okay and that we could start the project and hold back a specific percentage amount of the project payment until they arrived so they could return to complete it at a later time. He and I agreed and the project moved forward. When the owner of the company, Jon Jordan, found out about the window/door delays, he was irate. His brother/GM and PM (who were both very polite and professional) called me and tried to negotiate a higher partial payment percentage rate which was absolutely frustrating to me. I explained to them that I had suffered for months through the project with extreme errors and redos, which caused mental angst, and that we had already agreed on a percentage on day one. Nonetheless, I was willing to increase the partial payment a little bit just to wrap things up. The owner followed up that evening by texting me in an aggressive, threatening tone. He said my only options were to allow them to finish the project immediately (which was impossible because we didn't have the remaining windows or doors), or pay them in full immediately and they would return after the doors/windows arrived a few months later. Otherwise he would sue me and put a lien on my home. He and I hadn't even spoken prior to that, and it was shocking to get such an aggressive text from a guy who never even heard my side of the story… I proposed to the owner that we cease the contract immediately, and that I would pay them for all work completed at that point. We agreed on how much work was remaining, and removed that amount from the contract price. We cancelled the contract, he had his remaining materials picked up and that was that. Again, I was hopeful for this company and wanted to have a great experience, but due to the poor project management experience, inexperienced subcontractors who caused damage and significant delays, and a sue-happy, angry owner who lacked professionalism and compassion, I could never re-consider hiring, let alone recommend, this company for any type of contracting work."

"If I could do minus on the stars I would give a -5 stars. This company is horrible and Skylar Jump is rude beyond beleif. He came out and did the bid for the job, and he told me what it would cost me. 1/2 down and the other 1/2 upon completion of the job. They installed new drywall but did not make it flush at the corners, leaving big gaps and putting in large gouges. He and his crew left garbage all over the yard, stole materials and left my house compromised and exposed to the elements. Also damaged some of my vintage furniture from the Hoquiam Castle. So no replacing those. He was calling me and his crew inappropriate names and telling me that I don't listen, constantly interrupting me and told me that my family member who is an expert in siding doesn't know anything and started dising people. Also will not give you a receipt for money paid and will not give you a break down of the job. Also, when picking up materials from Home Depot, he will charge materials for another job onto your account. Do not hire this company unless you want to punish yourself and lose your money."

A well-maintained pool filter lasts anywhere from one to 10 years, depending on the type. Watch for inconsistent PSI readings, leaks, or wild chemical swings—these red flags tell you the media is spent. Most cartridge models clock in at two to three years, while a DE unit can push the full decade. Staying on top of maintenance avoids surprise repairs and keeps water sparkling.
Run the pump eight to 10 hours a day to give the water a full turnover and keep chemicals balanced. That schedule stays ahead of debris, eases the load on the filter, and helps the equipment last longer.
On scorching summer days or after a big pool party, tack on an extra hour or two, but skip nonstop 24-hour cycles that waste energy.
Skip routine filter changes, and you invite costly repairs. A clogged filter overworks the pump, leading to burnout or leaks. You’ll also see cloudy water, algae blooms, and roller-coaster chemical readings.
The CDC warns that poorly maintained pools can irritate skin and eyes, so stay on schedule with filter swaps to keep swimmers—and equipment—safe. Left untouched, debris can cement inside the housing, pushing replacement costs even higher than a simple filter swap.
