"Shane was my first contact (via phone) and was very knowledgeable and went above & beyond to answer all my questions. I tend to have pretty good discernment, and I immediately sensed I was dealing with an honest, straightforward company. Shane offered me an appointment 2 days later that s fast! Awesome when you re concerned about mold! Ray came to our house (a several hour drive to the Redding area!), and was prompt & called ahead to be courteous. Total genuine and nice guy (especially bc he s a dog lover ;) He wasn t rushed at all, answered all our questions (we had a lot), and actually said he likes & welcomes questions! After we received our report & invoice, I THOUGHT I was messaging my husband, lol, but I texted Shane: Thumbs up! They did thorough testing, & the price was still what was initially quoted! I highly recommend these guys!!"

"They did okay. They were nice and showed up when they were supposed to. They did what they were supposed to do. There was a nice guy who came in and worked. The quality of their service was very good. They made an appointment, kept to their appointment and showed up on time. So, their responsiveness was good. Their professionalism was very good. They had a very nice and professional young guy who came over and did the testing. He was very precise and explained everything that was necessary and he was easy to work with. I would definitely use their services in the future too. They have their own contracting company and they do have recommendations for everything else too. They are pretty good and I think I made a good choice."

"Excellent company! Very easy going in scheduling and doing the job AS SUPPOSED TO BE! They recommended a company for the drywall after the asbestos were removed. However, we said we will shop around. They were fine with the idea. We did go with the company that they recommended, though Synergy workers were punctual, professional, and on task. They have a supervisor who came twice to check on the work performed and the person who verified that no asbestos was present before we would come into the house. We did not do the whole house; definitely we will contract them when we need to do the rest. Everything as should be!"

"The estimator was very pleasant and knowledgeable on phone and in person. Very quick turnaround from my initial call to appointment day for estimate. Arrived on time for appointment and was efficient. Written estimate sent very quickly after inspection. The quote was very reasonable. But Alliance does not send air abatement samples to lab. It would have had to been done independently.  And the deciding factor for me was I wanted a company who provided a complete package, i.e., not only remove popcorn from ceilings, but texture and paint as well--plus help move heavy furniture if needed.  Because Alliance did not offer the extra services I decided on another company who did. Had I the time and desire to texture and paint ceilings myself-- or locate others to finish the job -- I may have chosen Alliance. <br />"

"From the first phone call, the initial inspection and quote, to day of, and clean up, I felt very comfortable with the whole process. The quote was provided by Dave who came out and looked at the areas needing removal. This exchange was done with my Mom, as I could not be present. I took over from there and couldn't have had a better experience with Colleen. The morning of removal came and due to the carpet padding and excess dust (it is a construction site) the job could not be completed and we needed to reschedule. Despite this "bump in the road", I was made a priority and we rescheduled promptly for two days later. I fully understood the need to rescheudle and had zero issue with it. The crew showed up two days later and quickly got to work. One gentleman showed me how areas will be sealed off and where the fan would be. I was able to have the air tested (another company) the following day. I informed Colleen and she sent the crew out to clean up and remove their items. The crew was prompt, and quick. <br /> I am having them return on 5/21/15 to remove the asbestos filled tape and insulation around my ducts in the garage. This will be a one day job and will not require any testing. Just removal and disposal. <br /> I would 100% pass Zcon Specialty's info along to anyone in need of their services. <br />"

"I needed help evaluating the safety of my deck which was being rebuilt. David was very helpful, accommodating my schedule by coming in the evening. He was so thorough, courteous, informative and went above and beyond pointing out potential problem areas and giving me guidelines. I am extremely grateful and impressed with the outstanding customer service. Thank you David! :-) <br />"

"I had a great experience with them. They came in and filled up everything. They were in and out in a day. They took the required governmental tests. They had the results back the next morning. They did a great job. They came in and did the job. The other people that I ended up talking with, they were the most responsive and they came out and did the job when they said they were going to do it the way they said they were going to do it. They were very responsive. They were right on time. They were very professional. They took everything with them disposal wise."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Redwood City, CA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
