"Overall it went smoothly, although this is the first time I've ever had carpet installed myself so I felt like the initial salesperson (Jason) could have been more informative regarding the whole process. He had a rather laissez-faire attitude. The sales person I ended up working with (Diana ) was very prompt & efficient as were the installers."

"The quality of their product and their price made me decide to go with them for this job. The service went very well, overall. They were timely. They cleaned up their mess pretty well. The gentlemen that came for installation were very professional, well mannered and courteous."

"The crew arrived within the given time frame. They were extremely nice and very professional. I knew beforehand that we would have to have a few seams, but Fernando consulted with me as soon as they arrived about the best way to lay the new carpet in order to minimize these and we ended up with fewer than we'd expected. The seams are completely invisible. The crew were very careful with all of our furniture and everything was done just exactly as we wanted it. We did have to have them come back out to install a transition strip in a doorway where we hadn't had one before. I called early on the Friday morning after our installation and the strip was in place by 10:30AM! The new carpet is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be more pleased! And again, the crew was probably the nicest group of men we've yet had out to our home to do any kind of work for us, and we've had quite a bit done in the past two years. Very, very pleased with Don's Carpet One! <br />"

"The contract started off with an estimate which was provided in a neatly typed letter that was scanned and sent by e-mail. All the clauses of the contracts were visible upfront including the separate charges for the cleanup. <br /> Once I agreed on the price and terms, the material was delivered for and quot;curingand quot; and lay in the house for a couple of days to acclimatize. The work was started soon after by two contractors who were well-spoken and mild-mannered. The only negative was the smoking. They provided a lot of information about the leveling of the floor they had to do and the way they would have to fix some creaking noises in the loft area etc. <br /> The job took a little longer (1/2 day) than expected, but that also meant the job was being done very meticulously. Did have some marks on the newly painted walls that were made during the service being rendered. <br /> After the final inspection when the work was accepted by us, we discussed the payment which they wanted us to do as a check. I was not aware that they would not take a credit card payment and I mentioned this to them. <br /> Highlights: <br /> Prices were competitive. <br /> Very experienced and detail oriented. <br /> Installation staff were monitored for the work being performed. <br /> They recommended that I get professional cleaning done by someone else while offering some basic cleaning by the installation crew. <br /> Overall it was a very positive experience and I will recommend this business to everyone. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Remlap, AL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
