"Sopt Flooring did an outstanding job refinishing our hardwood floors. Mr. Sopt contacted us within a couple of hours after we requested quotes through Angie's List. He came to our home promptly the next day to provide a quote, and began the work on our hardwood floors on the day agreed upon. He and his team sanded and put a dark stain on our floors (about 800 sq ft). He completed the work on the fifth morning, and the results were absolutely beautiful! He and his team were very professional at all times."

"The DWC team, specifically Troy, helped us navigate your insurance company's painful claim process.  Due to our insurance companies process and our schedule, the work stretched out over a couple of months.  DWC was very patient and helpful through the entire process.  Thanks!!"

"The quality is excellent. I am a licensed contractor who has remodel eleven apartment buildings that I own and various houses and condos for other people on the Northshore. Wood Ez has done over a dozen floors for me over the last five years. Most of these have been complete replacements of oak flooring and underlayment some floors only needed repair from water stains, burned holes, gaps because of walls removed, severe staining from pets which Wood Ez sanded and used bleached and stain to restore. All of the work has been excellent. Late last fall Wood EZ installed two new wood floors in two storefronts that I own in Evanston, I had asked them to wait to put the third coat of varnish on until I finished some repairs to the walls. Vlad, who is the president, called me in January to remind me that I had forgotten to get the last coat! Even before this I was so impressed that I refered Vlad to a friend who I know to be quite particular about his house. My friend needed his floors done in Hyde Park and they were extremely happy with Wood Ez work. It is very rare that I will recommend any contractor to a friend but I felt comfortable with Wood Ez."

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Rensselaer, IN

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
