"I was looking for a few steps above a big box store and Bloomington Carpet One delivered! Much better quality and service. Was very impressed with our vinyl plank flooring installer Gary who is a pro at floor installation - been doing it most of his life! Chose Carpet One’s waterproof vinyl plank flooring as the bedrooms are halfway underground and we recently had water seepage - looks just like light white oak. No one can tell it’s vinyl. It was installed in three kid’s bedrooms and their small hallway -approximately 600 square feet."

"Bob actually was able to make it out to our house a day early and provided us with the quote the next day. We ended up buying a carpet from Home Depot which included installation and thus did not use Bob. He was still gracious when I told him we would not need his service. Would definitely use him in the future if needed."

"Beginning in the summer of 2016 I worked with Pat Tierney of Schneider Carpet One to select flooring for my new condo unit. He was extremely helpful in advising on pros and cons of various products. The project was to begin late September, 2017. When the existing carpeting [recently installed by the previous owner] was ripped up, water damage to the subfloor was evident and extensive mold was discovered beneath the subfloor. Pat helped Me locate the professionals I needed to address the severity, and fix it. The floor installation was delayed for several months of mold remediation. During that time, Carpet One stored the floor product at no cost to Me. Pat was extremely patient. He juggled schedules with mold remediation work to replace subfloor and base boards in affected areas and the flooring in 2 bathrooms that needed to be removed. Throughout this process, he went above and beyond to make the best of a bad situation and to finally ensure the original flooring project was completed as quickly and professionally as possible. The installer was easy to work with and did a flawless job. A one week floor installation project turned into a seven month nightmare, but Pat Tierney and everyone at Schneider Carpet One helped at every step of the way."

"G&M did an excellent job. I called knowing I had some pretty odorous carpet that needed replacement. I had a few ideas in mind, but wasn't exactly sure how to go about it. They showed up, gave samples, provided multiple quotes for different areas, qualities, etc. and even offered additional suggestions for me to do to help keep the pet odors (from prior owners) from recurring. They were comparable to "big box / free install" prices but definitely had that small operation level of personal service that can't be matched. I will definitely be calling them back to carpet the basement once the remodel work is completed."

"I am sad to say it did not go well even though we are happy with the end results, finally. We have used Abbott regularly for paint supplies and for carpet. In those instances we have been very satisfied and would highly recommend their service and products. Unfortunately buying the roller shades was not a smooth experience. The measurements were written down incorrectly so one shade was one inch too wide for the window. That needed a re-order. The brackets for the shades we were shown in the store display were very different from what we got. Then we learned that those we were shown were a newer premium style and not available in the shade style we ordered. If so, why were we not told that when ordering? We then needed to order new brackets in a different color since the ones we got were bright white which looked awful against the dark old woodwork. We were expecting a tan color but only part of the bracket was tan while most was white. Instead we ordered black which doesn't look too bad since it is more hidden in the shadow of the window casement. But it was another annoying delay in finishing this little project. Finally, once we got everything in place, we like the product very much. It looks great in our old house and works well. If anyone is going to shop at Abbott for window treatments, I would recommend being very particular and double check every aspect of the order to make sure you know what you are getting is what you want. I am amazed that this simple project with nine windows would take weeks longer than expected with multiple corrections needed to finally get it done. So it pays to be extra diligent, I guess."

"The whole experience was great- from the showroom to the install. Nicole and Jay were both extremely helpful and patient with us (we had several questions); Jay came out and measured for us twice and Nicole sent us several different estimates showing us our various options. The price was better than fair, the quality of the carpet is excellent, and the install went great. We will definitely use them for future projects. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Rice, MN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
