"Glad to be done with cleaning gutters out. Have several trees and was forced to use the 'basket covers' on downspouts to keep leaves and whirlybirds out of the downspouts that drain underground."

"Gutters Systems is owned and operated by Bruce Donatell. We first found him on Angie's List and previously had hired him to re-do gutters at our house, our son's house and our daughter's house. I am strongly in favor of using owner-opertors for these kinds of services because the owner-operator has a much greater incentive to satisfy his customers than do the hourly workers hired by the larger firms. Every time we have used Bruce, we have had an A+ experience. So, this time, after learning that we had overlooked a gutter on the rear side of the garage at my daughter's recently purchased home - a house where Bruce had already installed all new gutters - we contacted Bruce. The neighbor pointed out that the downspout on that gutter was discharging water onto his property. So, I asked Bruce if he cold work this small job into his schedule. Within a day, he was on the site and installing a new gutter, leaf blocker and re-directing the discharge from the downspout. Again, an A+ job. <br /> Bruce is not just highly competent in this trade in terms of know-how, but we find him to be totally reliable, trustworthy and fair. <br />"

"They were subcontractors of another company that did some work for me. They came in, did their work and did a great job. They were very nice and easy to work with and worked together on what I wanted. They installed an underground rain drain with a pop-up head at the downspout of each gutter. Rain drains are like French drains that they put in the ground to carry the water away from the house. The pop-up valve opens with the pressure of the rain water as it comes down. It is an efficient way to get the water away from the house without having the gutter extensions sticking out and this setup looks good. They worked very hard. They had high standards and morals. The price was fair for the job done. I would definitely use them again in the future if needed."

"<p>I had a complete gutter system quoted by three different Angie's List contractors.  I went with the lowest bid, based on Angie's List reviews.  Big mistake.  The company did MANY things poorly (used pieces of cut downspout as hangers instead of actual hangers, mis-matched corners on gutter that needed mitres, did not use "ledge jumpers" so downspout alignment was terrible, used silicone instead of correct sealants on all joints, used multiple pieces of downspout instead of one contuos piece to save money, The previous contactor quoted and installed larger downspouts, but only made small  dropout holes in the gutters, so flow was restricted to the smaller gutter anyway!)</p> <p><br /></p> <p>I was not a gutter expert, but I know the previous job as bad.  I looked for a gutter "expert" to look at the botched job and hoped that they would be agreeable to "clean-up" someone elses poor workmanship.  I called Grand Gutter and explained the dilemma..  John came out the same day (within the hour), walked through the entire job while on the phone to me at work and told me exactly what the issues were, how he would fix it.  He is an expert and made me one in the process.  John and team did the "clean-up" from previous botched job perfectly.  He even offered to have the job paid for by CC, which was a first for me on a home repair.  John was awesome to deal with and very customer focused and an expert in gutters.  "When you want the job done right, call and Expert" - John's your man.</p> <p>I met with the previous contractor of the "botched job" and explained my dissatisfaction with the workmanship and we agreed to a lower price that originally quoted to assist in paying the quoted price to "fix" by Grand Gutters.  The previous contractor was very professional and apologetic that the work did not meet my expectations.  I think they were very busy and using new crew/sub to get all the work done they had biz for at the time.  </p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"The installation was great, work was done as scheduled, no issues. These gutters are more expensive than others we looked at. We had Leaf Guard gutters installed on our house when we built it about 5 years ago and they have worked as advertised. We had standard gutters on our house near the twin cities and I was on a ladder 2 or 3 times a year (or more) cleaning them. We recommend Leaf Guard for anyone who has trees near their home and doesn't want to spend time on a ladder."

"Dave was out a few times. The first time was to look at my Metro Steel Shingle roof and see if they could do a Gutter Glove installation on it. He assured me that they could. He also came out during the install and after it was done. I had looked at many other products, and felt that Gutter Glove was the top of the line. They are a bit pricey, but I also felt that they were the best value for my money. The crew did a very nice thorough job on the install, as it was not easy on that roof. I would highly recommend them. "

FAQs for gutters & downspouts cleaning service projects in Rice, MN

You’ll want to clean gutters once or twice a year—in early spring and again in fall—to keep water flowing and avoid pricey leaks. Homes tucked beneath tall trees or hit with heavy debris may need two to four visits instead. Staying on schedule protects your roof, siding, and foundation from costly water damage.

Even with gutter guards, plan on an occasional cleaning—just not as often as homes without guards. Installing gutter guards blocks leaves, but grit and shingle granules still slip through and pile up over time. A quick sweep keeps water moving and stops overflow that can damage your roof or foundation.

Watch for overflowing water, slow or silent downspouts, sagging sections, or debris peeking over the gutter edge. You might also spot water stains, weeds, or an increasing number of ants in certain areas. Any of these red flags means it’s time to call a gutter cleaning pro for service before minor clogs turn into major leaks.

Skip cleanings for too long and gutters overflow, sending water under shingles, down siding, and toward the foundation. The result can be mold, rotted fascia, basement leaks, and repair bills that dwarf the price of a quick cleaning. It can also mean that future cleanings will be more expensive as it will take pros longer to deep clean gutters that are full of heavy debris. Staying on schedule saves money and headaches.

Plan on gutter cleaning service to take an average of one hour for an average single-story home and two to three hours for taller houses. Add extra time if gutter guards need to come off or clogs are packed in. Pros work methodically, clearing every linear foot so water can flow freely again.
