"The initial salesman was very helpful. The roofers showed up on the day they said they would and had the entire roof replaced in a day. The work was completed and it looks good. Because the roof was damaged in a hail storm we were paying for the work with insurance money. It was a process to go through to get the insurance money from the mortgage company. The castle rock people called and came to our house to pick up the check which was uncomfortable for us. They did have to wait to be paid, but they knew it was an insurance job when they took it."

"I've been planning and dreaming of my new house and particularly my new kitchen, for two years. I shopped various cabinet companies, but when I went to Phill's Custom Cabinets in Owensboro, KY, I knew I found a company that would be perfect in helping me fulfill my wishes. Brenda was so great to work with, offering suggestions and solutions. I had some unique sizing constraints and some ideas different than most traditional kitchens. I did not want a sink in my island, but did want a wood top - table quality. It made for spacing of appliances and cabinets a bit tricky, but Phill's was up to the challenge. Brenda worked all the cabinets into a beautiful space with two arches, one over the stove and one over the sink. The wood top is gorgeous and the granite is stunning. <br /> Everyone at Phill's took their time with me and let me bring in magazine after magazine photo, as well as others and helped me put everything together. <br /> Phill's made a wall of and quot;cubbiesand quot;, as I did not want traditional book shelves. The trim work, corbels, under cabinet trim, toe kicks and everything about my cabinets worked out. <br /> I also have a unique mud room/pantry/laundry room. Phill's designed a smaller island for this room, pedestals for my washer and dryer that are large enough for my laundry baskets to go under (no more buying expensive metal pedestals) and my bathroom vanity, as well. <br /> Everyone at Phill's made me feel welcome at right at home when I would meet with Brenda. greeting me by name and always offering opinions when I asked. Even, the owner, Phill, Jr., worked on my plans and offered me suggestions several times during the planning process. <br /> Brian did an excellent job on the installation, including crown mold and some bead board trim pieces. <br /> Phill's is quick in making the cabinets and stands behind their work. I know I am going to love my kitchen for a very, very long time. I highly recommend anyone planning a new kitchen or a re-model, to use Phill's Custom Cabinet's in Owensboro, KY. They are caring and conscientious and I appreciate all of them...especially Brenda! <br /> Marlene Knight <br /> <br />"

"They were a little expensive, but they did a very good job. They got them all messed up and somehow we got lost and it took 2 months to get them to come out after they first came out. They lost us somehow and I don't know what happened. I had to literally call them back and start over again. They were there exactly when they said they were coming the second time they came out. We called them and told them our roof was leaking. We got them from Angie's List, and then I had to call them back, and she said they can't find us anywhere. I would use them again. As a matter of fact, we would be calling them again soon."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Richland, IN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
