"We highly recommend Contractors Inc. to anyone who wishes to resurface their kitchen cabinets. Our salesman John, Omar and Diego and his crew were absolutely the best. They were very responsive to any of our questions or concerns. Diego and his crew were prompt, polite and masters of their craft. We couldn't be happier with the way our new kitchen cabinets and the service Contractors Inc. provided. Bill Sherry N"

"We just had the Contractor's, Inc. give our kitchen a much-needed update. When deciding to do this work, we got quotes from several different companies. Our kitchen was old, but made with high quality materials and so we were really interested in cabinet refacing rather than completely replacing them. Several quotes later, and after speaking to several different companies, The Contractor's, Inc. was the best price but also the one company would do cabinet refacing that would also do the countertops and backsplash as well. This past week they came out on the exact date they said they would, were so friendly and courteous, cleaned up after themselves each day, and completed the work in three days as promised. The cabinets are beautiful, high quality cabinets, the countertops and backsplash look great and I feel like I have a whole new kitchen. Could not be happier with the whole experience from beginning until end."

"Retained Joe Morris on the recommendation of a neighbor to reface and enhance our kitchen cabinets as well as make two matching new ones. Joe was extremely helpful in making suggestions for drawers, end panels, self-close doors/drawers and crown molding. He provided a full plan of his recommendations along with a quote that we found quite reasonable. When it was time for him to begin he was always prompt, neat and exacting. The end result was amazing! Everything was perfectly fitting, properly adjusted and looked like brand new. There was a significant savings over purchasing all new cabinets of the same quality as the original. Couldn't be happier! NOTE: Please do NOT distribute or sell my e-mail address or phone number to anyone."

"Was given dates 6/15 - 6/19 and the work was completed by 6/17. Everything was done professionally the workers arrived by 8:30 each day and completed their days work by 5, and I am more than satisfied with the quality of the work and the professionalism. If I had any questions they were addressed within a reasonable amount of time. I received my quote for the work by email which was great I paid the first half of the payment up front on that same email, and when the work was complete I received an email and the remainder of the total cost was transacted on that email. I would recommend them highly!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Richmond, VA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
