"We chose SureGuard even though we had better quotes from other companies because we were sold on promise that work would be completed by their crews and supervised by their foreman daily. We loved the idea of hiring a local business that uses their own crews. It was obvious once work began that SureGuard was subcontracting work to other companies, and they did not send their foreman with these crews. The paint crew arrived and didn’t seem to have a complete picture of the work to be performed. They were difficult to communicate with and we had questions about the quality of their workmanship. I ended up having to place calls with their office to address my concern. To SureGuards credit, they did send out someone the following morning and my concerns were addressed. The work did turn out ok in the end, however the process was stressful. Had we known they were going to sub out the work we would have gone with the other bids. I would consider them for roofing, which appears to be their core business."

"The actual roof looks lovely and stopped all my previous issues. However, I experienced damage to interior walls due to the long term (3 weeks) storage of all my shingles on one side of my ridge. I was told it would be repaired, but we are five months later with no timeline on that project. The cleanup looked good on the surface, but I found lots of roofing debris and cigarettes in my landscaping. I also stepped on a couple nails which thankfully just took out a pair of sneakers and caused no injuries. Overall, the work done looks great and Im not experiencing issues five months into the install. However, I did not feel like my experience was all it could have been based on the numerous positive reviews I read before hiring Element Roofing. *Be aware my work was done in the summer, during a pandemic. Weather and illness aside, the damage to my walls could have been prevented with better communication and better organization of delivery versus start day of this project, which is the only reason I was frustrated."

"From my first phone call to Mid Michigan Tree Trimming Services, (810) 837-3588, to inquire about getting our backyard trees trimmed, till the day they came and completed the work, we had nothing but professionalism from this company. They came the very next day after my call and spoke with us about what we wanted done to open the view in our backyard, which is on the river. The two gentlemen went step by step with us as we pointed out what we wanted removed. They gave us a quote and two days later we enlisted them for the job. Within the week, a crew of three professional tree trimmers arrived to do the trimming and removable of the large tree limbs, shrubs and leftover logs from one of our own projects. Their “tree climber” (which many companies no longer have. Most companies now want to use the high/low machines which would have been impossible in our precariously shaped backyard, on the hillside.) Jake, their climber, knew exactly how to get up into our tall trees and trim the overhanging branches. His safety equipment was impressive. It was amazing to see how they worked together to complete the job and open the view in our backyard. Without a doubt, if we ever need anymore tree work, we know exactly who we will call. "I recently started inquiring about getting a new roof installed. I met with each company but one really stuck out while trying to pick the contractor to install the most important part of my home. Storm Maters' Kerry Klein arrived on time, actually started to inspect the roof before I got there. Once I did get to the house, Kerry was actually measuring the entire roof; first contractor to do that. Once he was done on the roof, approximately 30 minutes, I had the pleasure of speaking to him about some of my concerns. The entire quote took about an hour and a half but my concerns became his. He offered many solutions, he's extremely knowledgeable and very, very thorough. He climbed every inch of my attic inspecting it as he went to ensure he didn't miss anything. He delivered the quote, along with product and warranty information, the very next day in a professional package. "The crew that came out was very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They only tore off a portion of the roof that could be replaced that day so we didn't have to worry about tarps. It took a few days but they were very careful and considerate of the house and landscaping. We had some issues with the roof looking like it was buckling in places and the owner was quick to come out and check it out. He said the shingles needed to settle in and heat up good before they will lay completely flat, I was skeptical about that answer but he said if they don't lay flat then they will tear it off and do it again. Sure enough, they did lay flat by the end of summer and everything looks fine now.

"They showed up early and asked if they could go ahead and get started.  They did my roof in one day.  They cleaned up extremely well.  They guaranteed their work.  Made sure all the nails were picked up.  Had put tarp all around the house.  Removed all lawn ornaments and put them all back when they are done.  Did all the extras not necessarily asked for - went the extra mile that we really appreciated.  Their crew was absolutely wonderful, cordial.  Any questions we had they answered.  Brian, the Sales Manager, came out everyday to keep watch.  The experience was fabulous.  The owner even came out to see how things were going.  They worked with our insurance company and went over the house with them.  It would be a wonderful world if all companies had this work ethic.  I recommended them to my neighbors and 3 of them hired them."

"The overall work was great. There were issues along the way that makes it difficult to give higher than a 3/5. I would break it down like this: Reliability: 1 out of 5. They never showed up when they said they would. We were often told they would be there at 9am, but then we were lucky if they were there by 2pm. They would say they were on their way at 10, but then now show up until 4pm. There were many days during the project where they didn't show up at all. We tried to be understanding of extenuating circumstances, such as truck issues and high heat indexes. We were also understanding of the distance the crew has to travel to get to us, though that is something they should have considered before accepting the job. Communication: 1 out of 5. In most cases, we had to initiate the contact to get any information on when or if anyone was going to show up. There was a complete lack of communication. We were very frustrated and annoyed throughout the majority of the project. We also had to request, multiple times, for an itemized invoice so we knew what we were paying for. We never did get one. Quality of work: 5 out of 5. Both decks are beautiful and well constructed. If I was reviewing on the work alone, the score would be much higher. The crew he brought with him were hardworking and cared about the quality of work they were doing, which was amazing. The entire project, as a whole, was stressful. The end product is beautiful and exactly what we wanted. To say we have mixed feelings about this company would definitely be accurate. It's hard to rave about the work that was done when the level of professionalism was so low."
