"Juan did a complete remodel of one of our baths. It was a half bath and now we added a shower. He was professional, on time, and kept us up to date on the progress. He communicated clearly and if there were any changes along the way he made sure we were aware of what needed to be done and why. He did an excellent job and turned a dull old bath into a sleek/modern luxury bath. The space was small so he helped me realize my vision of what I wanted the bathroom to be. It is now my favorite bathroom in the house. I highly recommend Juan! I will definitely be working with him in future home projects. Thank you!"

"It was great experience working with Oscar. He’s professional in communication, work approach and quality of job. We hired him to install 3 bathroom’s tiles, he’s experienced and thorough from waterproofing, tiling to grouting. We’re very happy with the result. He also kept the job site clean and even helped me with other small job. I highly recommend Oscar. "

"I hired Javier to perform tile and grout work in my home, expecting professional-quality results. Unfortunately, the workmanship was very poor and did not meet basic standards. After the job was completed, I noticed multiple problems with the grout and overall finish. The grout lines were uneven, messy, and inconsistent in both color and texture. Some areas looked smeared, while others appeared thin or improperly filled. The work looked rushed and unfinished rather than clean and professional. I contacted Javier to explain the issues and gave him the opportunity to correct the problems. He refused to fix the work. Because the issues remain unresolved, I have filed a Small Claims Court case in an effort to recover my money. I have also had to begin looking for another contractor to remove the defective work and redo the job properly, which will likely cost more due to the need to tear out and replace what was done incorrectly. This situation has caused significant stress, inconvenience, and financial loss. Based on my experience, I would not recommend his services."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Rio Vista, CA

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
