"I have used Maintenance Plus several times over the years and, as always, they did a great job. They are quick to provide an estimate and schedule the work once estimate is accepted in a timely manner. They have always started on time and worked steadily to complete the project. I'm very pleased and will continue to contract with them and recommend them to friends and neighbors. <br />"

"The paint looks great! They even patched a hole in the drywall of the basement rec room at no extra charge. The crew ran into some issues in one of the bathrooms after removing wall paper, but they overcame that by re-mudding all of the walls so that the paint would stick well and be smooth. The only thing I would mark them down slightly on was that there were, on 2 different occasions, a faucet left running after they were gone - most likely due to bumping the handle while they were working. Luckily this was in a bathroom sink and it drained without running over onto the floor. There were also some cups left from their lunch and a drink bottle left in the fridge. The paint looks great!"

"We wanted specific paint and colors used i.e. Benjamin Moore so we supplied the paint. This was also our first time hiring professional painters. Additionally, we are picky about the quality of work when hiring any contractor. Mr. Cabaniss, Sr. met with us about the job, answered all our questions and work with us on the time frame. He was professional and polite. The painters on the job were terrific! They were professional, courteous and prompt. The quality of work is outstanding. Their ability to free hand the trim and doors is amazing. The lines are clean and crisp. We would not hesitate to recommend them or contract with them again."

"Crowe has expanded into a general contractor business. I needed a "one stop shop" for all our needs to prepare our home for sale. The work in the basement was quite extensive as the entire ceiling needed to be replaced after a leak in the 30' main kitchen drain line. Patching was not an option as the hole was quite large and the ceiling was popcorn. They also installed additional can lights while the ceiling was open. They suggested and I approved the installation of crown molding, which makes the room look 'done'. Chris (owner) was very reasonable on pricing and I could not speak higher of his lead man, Brandon. The other gentlemen on the crew were also professional, courteous and easy to get along with. <br /> After the ceiling was finished, I called them back for a second job to help get other areas of the house ready that I could not handle alone. This included painting the rest of a very tall interior stairwell, all kitchen and bathroom cabinets (this required extensive sanding and 7 coats of paint), painting of the deck and the roof soffits. Again, all of the crew were professional, courteous and easy to get along with and the price was right. <br /> After the house sold and the home inspection revealed repairs, I returned to Crowe. This time, the tub stopper, door jamb, gutters and stair post needed repair. <br /> The fact that they are a 'one stop shop' saved me the frustration of dealing with the scheduling and payment of multiple contractors. I spent about $5500 for all of the work, not including the paint. I suspect I would have paid 2-3 times that for individual contractors. I highly recommend them.  <br />"

"His work seems to be good and professional. From the time he met me at Home Depot to the time that he left was about 3 hours, and he only charged me $75.00. So far he’s been on time. He called me to let me know there was a traffic jam the second time he came out. He does quick work. He’s thorough and professional. He’s energetic, up beat and very pleasant. He charges a reasonable fee. I will continue to use him in the future."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Roanoke, VA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
