"i was pleased with the service and the cost. They did the following: 1. Painted two-story walls and ceilings in family room and front entry hall. 2. Painted walls and ceilings in rear stairway 3. Painted all trim. Trim was previously painted with oil-based paint. I requested water-based. Making this change also required putting on a coat of oil-based primer. 4. Changed color of accent wall, which has a fireplace with stacked stone to the ceiling. "Cutting in" around the stone to change the color was not a trivial job. Because I took advantage of an off-season special with discounted labor, they asked me to buy the paint based on what their estimator thought they would use. He was way off - i wound up with about 7 gallons of extra paint. This wasn't a complete disaster, as they supplied their account number so I could buy the paint with their discount, and because I had some other areas that I wanted to paint myself, and was able to use up some of the extra. The company sent 5 painters the first day. The estimator had said they would be done in one day. The painters said he underestimated the amount of work. They came back the next day for 6 hours, this time with a crew of 4. Positives - everyone was really pleasant and courteous. The crew arrived on the time and date promised. They took all necessary steps to ensure the floors were properly covered. They did a great job with the painting, and were careful when painting the windows to remove paint from the glass. They also didn't "paint the windows shut", an issue I've had with other painters. Although the job required more painters and more time than estimated, we were able to work out the pricing so I didn't wind up paying for the overage. The only negatives, and my reason for a 'B' rating rather than 'A' is the amount of the over-estimate on the paint, and that the crew foreman (not the estimator) caught the fact that my trim was oil-based, necessitating a last-minute trip back to the paint store to get the primer. I also had some difficulty communicating with the foreman on the work crew. I think in the end we understood each other on everything that mattered, but it took some effort. Approximate cost of $1100 was for the labor only."

"Their team was fantastic. Our prior contractor disappeared and we needed to find someone quickly. These guys came out the next day, took measurements and we had a full kitchen and master bath completed in less than 2 weeks from the first phone call! This was a challenging project with a unique design. But they were happy to take on the challenge and their pricing was very fair (even cheaper than our original contractor). The installers were on time and very careful with the installation, taking care to protect our floors, cabinets and walls during the process. I highly recommend Effective Granite and will be using them for future projects. Our kitchen and bathroom could not have turned out better!"

"My wife and I wanted new hard woods in our house but had very specific requirements that we could not typically find locally.  My wife wanted a dark floor while I wanted extreme durability in a natural hard wood.  We did our homework and decided that Brazilian Walnut (Ipe) most closely matched what we wanted.  <br /> After looking locally for something that fit the bill, the flooring we found was either over $12 sq/ft (too expensive) or not dark enough.  I started searching on-line and ran across Brazilian Direct.  Their prices seemed reasonable (a bit over $6 sq/ft for what we wanted) and they even had a tinted (dark) version of the floor we liked. <br /> After several weeks of questions and further research, we decided to place an order.  We we worked with a representative named Sannon who helped us every step of the way.  She sent us samples, instructions, guides - everything to make us more comfortable about our eventual order.  Our order came right on schedule and the wood was really beautiful.  After several weeks of the required acclimation we had a local installer put the floor down.  They did an excellent job and we really love our floor.  There was very little waste and in fact we had at least 3 boxes left over. <br /> I highly recommend Brazilian Direct.  We are considering using them again for a deck project we'd like to do in the future. <br />"
